Grant Hills Motel is a very good no-frills motel. Rooms are clean and reasonably priced. I stay here occasionally when I visit friends in Galena.

Check in was not great. I booked through Expedia so no payment was due at check in. I gave the clerk my ID and he told me I needed to swipe my credit card. I told him again that I booked through Expedia and I shouldn’t have to pay again. He told me I needed to pay. I asked him the amount and it was more than $10 more than the Expedia price. He then asked me if my name was, something that began with a B, and I said no, I just gave you my ID!!! He finally pulled up my reservation and figured out that I didn’t owe any additional money. Then I get to my room and the TV didn’t work so I had to change rooms. Very frustrating.

All was great! Very clean and the bed was comfy! Was a little skeptical, but pleasantly surprised. We'll definitely stay there again! Right next to Blaum Bros, Distillery is a plus!

Stayed 1 night.=nicely remodeled, very clean and convenient. The wall heater/ air unit is loud. Otherwise all was good!! Found out when leaving there's a kitchen for quests to use downstairs, very nice! Had not known about though.

I immediately had to ask to be switched to another room upon arrival as my room smelled, and there was a big bug on the wall. The sidewalks were cracked and crumbling. One of the chairs in my room was filthy and had a giant burn in the center. I took a photo but I don't see how to download to this review. The floor of the shower was squishy and I felt like I was going to slip or fall over. I realize the rate for this motel was very inexpensive but I would not stay here again.
