The Colton Motel was overbooked so we were bumped to their sister motel, the Budget Host Three Crowns just down the street. The cost, with taxes, was just shy of $110/night, which was significantly less than other in-town lodging. We often stay in budget places, we're not expecting anything fancy. The location was fantastic. The room was clean, if worn. The gal we dealt with was lovely. As a woman who generally travels alone or with my sister, security is important. Traveling from NC we knew we'd likely arrive after the 10pm office closing time. Fortunately I phoned as we were on our way. That is when I discovered we'd been moved & that our key would be waiting by the office. After several long traffic delays we arrived at almost midnight. A note was taped to the office door with my name & room number & direction that the key was under the door mat...something that anyone could have taken advantage of. I checked the whole room before bringing anything in. It was fine but that was a lack of security awareness I was not impressed by. There was only one chair which was worn & had a metal piece poking through the upholstery into the sitter's leg. There was no where else to sit but the beds and the lobby where the coffee & honey buns were set out was not an option for spending any downtime. The mattresses are worn & the towels were not absorbent. There are not enough electrical outlets and none available at the sink & mirror where one is most needed.

Maybe not..

Room was not well maintained. Bed was so bad my wife had to go to the chiropractor after one night. Cardboard used to keep furniture doors closed. Staff was not real helpful. Left after one night.

Very overpriced for what it is. The location is convenient, but the condition of the room is bare minimum comfort. Being your own pillow, comforter, and flip flops for the bathroom. Bring melatonin or other sleeping pills to drown out the stupid people with no mufflers on their cars, blasting music in the parking lot until 11 pm - 12 am. If you just need a place to sleep and don’t care that much, yes, come to the Colton. The tv was nice!

I got a room directly next to the office. In the morning right after 8:00 am, I could hear a man and a woman arguing very loudly in the office. This went on for about 20 minutes and woke me up. Other than that the rooms could be cleaner.

Parking was a bit more of a challenge than I was used to as i was here before this trip. Seemed to be people moving vehicles around leaving me to park a few spots away from my assigned hotel door..

The people were super nice and helpful but the property itself is run down and really needs a makeover. The tv, mini fridge, internet, lights, and microwave all work fine. But there are holes in the walls, the front door didn't close right, and the toilet didn't work well. The bathroom wasn't swept up either. The "breakfast" was ONE only, your choice of a prepackaged muffin or honey bun.

When I checked in on a Monday to stay 4 nights at the Colton Motel in Gettysburg October 2025. I asked if I could stay and pay for the 5th night. She said as of right now they are booked up for that night. she said there might be one cancellation in the next day or two?. if there is I would get first dibs. Well there was a cancellation and I got to stay another night. The staff went out of there way to accommodate me. The room was very clean & user friendly. There was 3 very good sitdown or carryout restaurants and many attractions all within a block of the Motel, an easy walk. The next time I come to Gettysburg I will be staying at the Colton Motel.

Bad experience at the Colton Inn in Gettysburg, Pa

First this is not the Hotel we booked nor the type of room. Manager of the original booking hotel sent us down the street to there other property. Upon arrival we saw that we did not have a room with a queen bed like we had booked.(2 full beds). The room smelled of something other than cleaning products. Went to use the sink and the faucet was very loose. Went to use the shower and that faucet was loose also. The toilet was not bolted down. Mold in the corners of the shower. Their was a lot of dust on ledges, tops of door moldings, pictures, mirrors and top of heat register. Mirrors looked like they used a dirty rag to clean. Lamp shades were busted. beds and pillows were not comfortable. Furniture was worn and scratched. Front window was dirty and lacked a screen. Very dated decor. No microwave in room. Parking lights visible but not working at night. After taking off my shoes my white socks tuned black from the dirty floor. Went on line and found the room they put us in was $13.00 a night cheaper than our original booking. The manager still charged us full booking price I checked Hotels.com and found that the room we originally booked was still showing as available.. We feel that this was a classic bate and switch.

Nothing worked including electrical outlets and toilet. The lock on the door was broken, the furniture handles were broken, there was no hair dryer. The shampoo was in tiny plastic packets which are impossible to open. Front desk person was nice and she gave us a good recommendation for dinner.

Quick overnight stay

Very old motel, but clean. Bed was good, bathroom was well maintained. Could use some updates, but otherwise decent for resting after walking all day. Close to most things in town. Friendly staff.
