The atmosphere was relaxing and romantic. Upon checking in, staff greeted us with welcome drinks. The room was clean and spacious with the private onsen being the highlight. The amenities, robes, tatami, and floor bedding made it an authentic and comfortable experience. The private dinning experience for dinner and breakfast was luxurious and delicious. Overall, the hotel was quiet and a nice spot to decompress and relax before continuing with the rest of the trip. The only downside is that the property is on a steep hill, so the walk to the hotel was fatiguing but well worth it. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who has the opportunity to visit Hakone!

We really enjoyed our stay at Hakone Airu. From the moment we stepped in we were treated well. They held our luggage for us before we checked in so that we could explore the town. Our rooms were very clean and spacious. The private onsen was amazing and we had an amazing view of the mountains. We felt very relaxed in our rooms. Our stay included both dinners and breakfasts for our two night stay. The dinner was amazing, the first night we had wagyu beef shabu and with the appetizers we were so full. The second night we had crab meat which was also amazing and plentiful. Both breakfasts were great and filling as well. Overall this was probably on the best places I’ve stayed at and would definitely come back again!

2 adults stayed in Superior Room, Non Smoking, Mountain View 3F with open-air bath + Private Room Meal overnight. The service was impeccable the moment we walked in. The staff spoke English well and were very friendly. Checking in was easy. We got a call a before dinner and went to the dining area for a private room meal. The meals were beautifully presented and delicious! Our breakfast the next day was also the same quality and amazing. We wish we had a menu for the breakfast menu too so we know what delicious food we were eating! The room was spacious. There is tea and water in the fridge. They provide yukatas and everything skincare, body care and hygiene products. During our mealtime, they prepared the futons for us so we returned to our beds already made! The private onsen was the best experience and could fit 2 adults. Very worth it for those who haven’t experienced it before. We had an relaxing and wonderful experience. Our only regret was that we only stayed one night. Highly recommend! Thank you! We arrived at Hakone-Yumoto station late at ~5:30PM and the shuttle buses had stopped so we ended up walking. But the hills were steep so don't walk especially if you have large and multiple luggage. If you can, take a taxi or the shuttle bus for a small fee directly to the hotel or take the bus labelled K - 325 with Yumoto-Nakajuku as a stop. This will drop you off at a building next to the hotel. You can take this bus back from the hotel to Hakone-Yumoto station.

With top notch experience options for dining, massage booking options, and private onsens, it doesn't get much better than this wonderful location. There isn't a spectacular view, but it is decent, and the room, and how they treat you, is astounding. From an awesome lobby and common areas, to a spacious room and incredible experience, this is a place I would love to return to.

This ryokan is absolutely beautiful. The staff was very kind and exceeded our expectations in everyway. I would recommend this hotel to all my family and friends. The view from our personal onsen was beautiful. After a week of walking around tokyo it was the perfect way to relax. The food was great and we loved our personal dinning area. I have no complaints at all. If you are looking to stay in hakone, stay in Hakone Airu.

The food was excellent. Facilities is good. However, our room has a defective thermostat. There’s no other room to move us on the night of our stay. The property did not have a portable heater . Property doesn’t have extra blankets to use . It was cold in the room. The following morning at check out we notified the staff. They help us and apologized for the inconvenience.
