It was ok

The food at the buffet was awful. The rooms weren’t as clean and updated as expected for the price and five star rating. The outdoor private onsen in room is nice but most of the view is cut off by the wood slats and there is a lot of noise from the front of the buiding (eg cars and people).

Great facility. Friendly staff. very spacious room based on tokyo standard. Great onsen choices We get to enjoy Hakone Kowakien Yunessun for free while staying at Ten-Yu! Kids love the free ice cream options too. Okada Museum of Art and Family Mart are within walking distance. A bus runs directly to Hakone-Yumoto and Odawara, with the bus stop right in front of the hotel.

Relaxing serene experience

We had an amazing experience at this hotel. Sleeping to the sounds of running water streams, swooshing if the trees, birds chirping was very relaxing and serene! Staff members were very friendly and made sure we felt welcomed!

A Peaceful Escape with Heartfelt Hospitality Our stay at Hakone Kowakien Ten-Yu was magical—where traditional charm met modern comfort. Highlights: • Free teas and ice cream added warmth and joy. • Soothing nightly live music in the lobby. • Spacious, fresh-aired room with a comfy bed and pristine bath. • Open-air private onsen with beautiful mountain views. • Delicious breakfast with both Japanese and Western options. • Convenient shuttle to Gora Station and Hakone Open-air museum for easy exploring. Tip: Leave extra time for transit. Buses can be full, but the train from Gora to Odawara is smooth and reliable. Thanks to the caring staff, even a bumpy checkout turned into a story of kindness. Highly recommended for a serene Hakone getaway.

It was a magical dream to stay here. The stunning views, the beautiful well kept spacious rooms, delicious food (did the buffet option), and welcoming attentive staff. You must get a room with a private Onsen - waking up at sunset to bathe in the Onsen was surreal! I hope to be back again. There is a shuttle that takes you to/from the train station (note they stop running mid day 12-2pm so plan accordingly).

Absolutely amazing experience. The staff were incredibly welcoming and provided above and beyond assistance. The food was the best selection and the taste was even more amazing. The private Onsen and the public one were a once in a lifetime experience. I hope to come back and stay for a longer duration next time
