This is a really nice hotel. We expected it to be a tranquil ryokan, but it instead had more of a resort feel with a lot of families using the spa area. It’s also not out in the hills, instead the rooms face houses and shops. Despite these surprises the room was amazing, the staff were excellent and the food was divine. Just noting so that others aren’t surprised.

I had an excellent stay here at Hotel Indigo Hakone. The staff were incredibly helpful and courteous. They speak excellent English as well. The lounge area is nice. The room is even nicer. Big and spacious. Amenities are great and there’s a Nespresso machine. The private onsen is big and clean. The HVAC is too silent which led us to think it wasn’t functioning. But it actually was. Overall I highly recommend this location. And I highly recommend you rent a car instead of taking public transportation.
