This hotel was as advertised: at a distance from the ferry, secluded from the tourist sites, and an authentic Japanese experience re: meals, onsen, and sleeping setup. The facilities are somewhat dated, but the onsen was great and tolerant of tatoos. The food was plentiful and the on-site store had a lot of souvenirs at the same price as elsewhere on Miyajima. It was definitely the least comfortable night we had in our three weeks, however. Having access to the anticipated dinner and breakfast menu during booking would also help manage expectations.

A very special place.

Everything was amazing. The staff are very kind and friendly. Food was delicious. Futons were comfortable. Transportation into town was top knotch. Everything was awesome. I fell in love with this place. It is very special and I hope to return for a longer stay.

Beautiful hotel on a beautiful island, my family only stayed one night but it was enough to fully enjoy the traditional japanese style of living; The futon beds were very great!!! And the traditional dinner and breakfast provided was a unique experience for us all, we loved it!

Everything about this hotel is perfect. The staff were incredible and very accommodating. The shuttle service was very convenient and made sure to wait for everyone. The dinner and breakfast were both amazing, it was really great getting two meals full of local foods. The view out the hotel window was fantastic, we could sit and just look outside for hours at the deer walking around the beach. It was a perfect mix of traditional Japanese hospitality with modern comfort and convenience. Our favorite hotel we stayed at during our two weeks in Japan.

Stayed overnight whilst on Miyajima and had the Kaiseki dinner and Japanese breakfast included. The room was a traditional Japanese style with the futon beds made up for you after having dinner in your room. We had an ocean view room with large windows allowing you to enjoy the view. The staff were superb, friendly and very attentive. The dinner was beautiful and delicious, we were lucky to visit during oyster season, the deep fried oysters were particularly nice. A very handy shuttle bus is provided to and from the ferry terminal.

The service at Miyajima Seaside Hotel was the best we have ever experienced! We stayed in a traditional tatami room. Dinner and breakfast was included. Our beds were set up while we were at dinner. The food was fresh and amazing. The attention to detail was impeccable. The staff were so helpful. Highly recommend at least one night here!!

What a nice little gem and a good break from the pace of traveling through Japan. The service was top notch and really enjoyed the food especially the first night's dinner. They were very accommodating to food allergies. Really enjoyed the onsen.

Very rewarding experience

This stay was uniquely amazing . Stayed for one night yet enjoyed thoroughly the amenities of the hotel . Every single staff member was extremely nice and it was easy to communicate as most of them spoke very fluent english. There is a shuttle bus that goes back and forth from the hotel to the port constantly which allows you to explore the island without worrying about transportation back to the hotel. Keep in mind this hotel will serve dinner and breakfast , so don’t book any dinner/breakfast reservations as this will positively surprise and satisfy you. Wifi works great. Check in and out times are strictly at 3 pm and 10 am. At comfort I did reduce the star as the comforters are not as comfortable. I did wake up a bit sore , but I understand it is part of the experience . Overall , great experience which I look forward to repeating.

On our trip to Japan we wanted to experience a Ryokan. The Miyajima Seaside Hotel meshed perfectly with our desire to visit Miyajima. The service was excellent. The view of the water from our room was picturesque. Being serviced dinner in our room was a first for us and having a traditional Japanese ryokan dinner and breakfast was is something we will not forget.
