It was a decent place to stay for the money. Very convenient to the beach and good shopping. Because of the central location, it was noisy. The room was clean except for some sand on the bathroom floor that they made has missed probably because she was wearing shoes. I would stay there again if it was just for an overnight.

Good location, old hotel.

Location was right where I wanted to be. You pay for the location, not the hotel. Hotel is older, needs some upgrades. No coffee in rooms or in lobby. Wifi isn't great, kept cutting out.

Terrible experience at this hotel. The customer service was not only rude but appeared intoxicated. The room was absolutely filthy, reeking of a horrible stench. To make matters worse, some of my personal belongings went missing during my stay. Avoid this place at all costs!

Overall we loved our stay at the Royal Grove and will return. Pros - besides price - it is convenient to Waikiki beach, dining, shopping. The room was clean, and you can get anything you need from the front desk. The customer service was great. The pool is bigger than some of the high-end hotels and it is outside on a nice deck with chairs and pool toys. The hotel (motel) is not modern, but it is cute. If you are looking for a great price w/ convenient location and just a place to sleep it is a great choice. Some of the units have full kitchens as well. Only CONs - we could not get the hot water to work in the shower although it did work in the sinks. Also, it is not a secure hotel. People can walk on the property that are not staying there. We did have someone pound on the door looking for someone. We are already looking for our next dates to stay the weekend.

We spent all of 3 minutes in our room before leaving and asking for a refund. We were concerned upon arrival with 3 different groups checking out saying how awful it was and discussing plans with their lawyers about it (a bit much but not totally wrong). The walls in our room were covered with black mold, the tv was about as old as my daughter entering college and the fan in the bathroom had enough dust piled up it would take a day to clean in and of itself. Staff were extremely rude when confronted by it and instead of apologizing were basically like thid happens all the time amd were still going to charge you even for your 3 minutes. My wife was almost in tears by time i got back to the room to leave thinking we had just paid for some bed bugs and cockroaches that appeared to be thriving there.

This is my second stay at the property, very reasonable in cost, but we were placed right above a room/space with construction going on in the evening up to 10 at night, drilling into walls, pounding, and staff could not alleviate the problem - We don't own the property, managers not available until Monday, quiet hours start at 10pm!!, you can check out if you're not happy. Wow! I would be sure to get rooms on the 3rd or 4th floors, these even have lanais...I will be back, but they should not rent rooms where guests can't have quiet when they want/need it. They should train their staff better as well!

I liked the location, the presence of a kitchen and kitchen utensils; accessories for relaxing on the beach. Some of the staff were attentive and pleasant to talk to. But I didn't like the fact that it was often too noisy at night. Visitors would come and talk well after midnight, bang doors and smoke. Appealing to the staff often didn't bring results. Therefore, our vacation was often uncomfortable. And if it weren't for this moment, the hotel would be a desirable place to come back here again.

Bad place

Unpleasant stay, actually room was different from what was ordered and much worse than supposed to be: peeling paint, moldy ceiling, dusty curtains and never cleaned windows. The original windows storm blind was purposely modified made them unusable. We all got sick from malfunctioned and durty A/C. The staff was unprofessional, rude and stubborn especially on the day of February 4th 2025. Forget about hospitality at this place, you treated as annoying object. This place used to be very cozy even though being outdated but now its like a hell with all those cheap "upgrades" when you might get a room with full kitchen, but in reality it will be room full of dinosaurous style furniture but empty from kitchenware. Half of needed towels, poliester bed linens, smellish carpet. It looks like this hotel is under external management and as a result of those "effective menagers" is rapidly deteriorating. Avoid this place
