It‘s a real pub-hotel, with some noises and simple but adequate rooms. But the owner and his team: they make the stay like you are in a 5 star hotel. They are supportive, communicative, have patience with customers who don‘t have fluent language skills and they are friendly at all times. It was a delight to stay at the Smithton.

Happy Highlander

A pleasant surprise for a hotel that looks like it's in an urban area. It is actually very close to the countryside and has easy access to the city centre. Externally, the building is showing its age but the room was comfortable, clean and quiet. Friendly, helpful staff and a good breakfast. Evening meals are also available.

Smithton Hotel near Inverness Airport is a convenient and comfortable choice for travelers looking for easy access by car or bus. Located just a few minutes' drive from the historic Culloden Battlefield, it also offers opportunities for scenic walks and hikes in nearby Culloden Woods. Plus, there are plenty of stores and restaurants within walking distance. A key detail to note is the front desk’s limited check-in hours, but once checked in, guests receive both a room key and a key to the main entrance for ease of access. I had the chance to stay twice—once at the beginning and again at the end of my trip. The staff was responsive to my request for a room away from the restaurant and smoking section so that I could enjoy fresh air with an open window. When I returned with my tour group, they accommodated my request as best as they could, which was much appreciated. Breakfast is included, which is a great bonus, making mornings hassle-free before heading out to explore. Overall, I had a pleasant stay and would gladly return to Smithton Hotel on a future visit.

Pleasant Surprise in the Suburbs

Pleasantly surprised with this relatively reasonably priced hotel located in a quiet suburb (?) of Inverness. It was a short taxi ride from the train and to the airport. The room was very comfortable, clean, and well supplied for the bathroom and the morning in room coffee/tea service. We had dinner there as well, an added bonus when you are staying out in the quiet areas. Peter checked us in an made a taxi reservation for us for the 0430 ride to the airport, thus taking that anxiety off of our shoulders. We highly recommend this hotel.

This is a wonderful place to stay. Staff are so friendly and helpful and hotel is located a 5 min drive outside Inverness. I would definitely stay here again .

Great value. If anything too cheap for the standard they deliver. Room was really clean and bedding was to a high quality and standard. The breakfast was amazing. Great produce cooked fresh as you order.

A real surprise

This was the most affordable place for us to stay on our last trip to Inverness. We were expecting a fairly run down local pub, and it looks a bit like that from outside. But inside the rooms have been renovated and are actually very comfortable. The only down side is there isn't a lift and you need to lug your bags upstairs but the staff were great and would probably help.

I enjoyed the staff, service, cleanliness of room. While this is an older establishment outside, the room was updated. Everything in room worked perfectly. I had 2 soups while staying there. A tomato and corn. Both were so tasty. Close to bus line and bus/train station.

Perfectly pre flight stopover

Simple hotel. Rooms recently refurbed and whilst not the biggest bedrooms, were comfortable, towels were big, G&t v reasonable priced, staff friendly and food good portions and well priced. Perfect to get to Inverness airport
