The stay wasn’t too bad. I give it 3 1/2 out of 5 stars. The bed was not properly cleaned. There were crumbs and pieces of paper on there. I’m assuming left over from whoever stayed there prior to me.

This Hotel is ridiculously dirty. Smells like mold, feces, urine and anything else you can think of. The bed sheets were clean, although the pillows had a disgusting smell. The receptionist at the front desk was extremely rude. We politely asked “are we able to get early check-in because we need to be somewhere at 3:30pm”, she made a snarky remark saying “ And I need to get you a clean room”.

Stay only if desperate.

This location is stark. The staff are quite good,and friendly. But there was often trash in the hallway leading to the elevators. Cigarette burns on the walls of the elevators and on the counter in our room. Curtains were inoperable. Our last night was totally disrupted by a fire alarm at 12:30 a.m. No fire located. Needless to say all guests had very little sleep that night. I recommend someone from corporate visit this site soon. Complimentary coffee, etc. was meager at best.

I will never return to this place, the room they gave me smells like curry. I asked to change they said we are fully booked which is bs because the one person staff did not feel like working. I wanted ice he said there is no ice machine on property. I went to the room to pour me a drink there were no plastic cups as you would expected. I went down to the reception to ask for plastic cups, I received dirty ones that I need to wash then use . Bad experience,!!!!

Huge Disappointment

I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding my experience related to my reservation through Hotels.com at Extended Stay America – Rutherford, NJ (750 Edwin I. Ward Sr. Memorial Hwy) on April 23–24, 2025. I booked through Hotels.com for my brother, his wife, their 9-year-old autistic child, and my sister’s 10-year-old son to visit the American Dream Mall. Upon calling the hotel directly to request a two-bed room, I was told changes had to go through Hotels.com, though two-bed rooms were available. When Hotels.com attempted to assist, your team was unable to reach the property. On April 24, despite multiple calls, no confirmation of the room change was received. At check-in, the front desk said two-bed rooms were available but could only be booked online. After further issues, I contacted Extended Stay Guest Relations directly, who created a new one-night reservation for a room with two beds, but the desk staff at the hotel remained uncooperative. The front desk agent escalated the situation without cause and refused to extend the stay, even after I remained calm and respectful. Ultimately, I was forced to seek alternate lodging at another hotel. I request Hotels.com investigate this matter thoroughly, review communications related to Hotels.com’s attempted contacts with the Rutherford property, and take corrective action. This experience caused major inconvenience and undermined trust in Hotels.com’s partners and service quality.
