The Bear's Den sits on over 2, private, beautifully wooded acres and backs up to 700 acres of state land - all wilderness, full of mountain laurel, giant rhododendron, towering oaks, majestic hemlocks and whispering pines. The balcony deck overlooks the valley of tree tops, where you can enjoy the sights and sounds of nature all year long.
The outside features a rustic fire pit, with group seating. In 2026 we will be adding a horseshoe pit, swing set and play equipment, and lots of activities and games for the kids.
Conveniently located 5 minutes from the PA turnpike (476) and 10 minutes from Rt 80, you are just a short drive to historic Jim Thorpe - the Little Switzerland of the Poconos.
From this wonderful home you can enjoy hiking, biking, swimming, whitewater rafting, skiing, kayaking, fishing snowshoeing, Hickory Run State Park Lake, and historic Jim Thorpe's many shoppes, restaurants, pubs, and amazing architecture. Visit the historic mansions, the old jail, and the train station, where you can chug along the Lehigh River in an open or closed rail car. In December, Santa is on the train to greet kids of all ages. The area also features all manner of winter, summer and seasonal events and festivals.
After a day of enjoying all the things to see and do, you can enjoy an evening barbecue on the balcony deck and a campfire with family, friends, cold beer and fine wine.
There are dozens of area restaurants and pubs, that will charm you, plus shops, antique dealers, bike rentals, and live entertainment at Penns Peak, a large concert and event hall, and the Mauch Chunk Opera House in downtown Jim Thorpe.
This 3000 sq ft home features 6 bedrooms, 3 baths, and can accommodate from 2 to 16 people - couples, families, and family and friend groups. The loft and den provide additional sleeping space.
The Bear's Den features wide-plank wood flooring, an indoor stone fireplace, a large seating island kitchen with quartz counters, and a dining room table.
Outdoor features various types of seating areas, propane gas grills, and plenty of dining space. Off the patio is an outdoor fire pit with group seating.
The home and grounds are professionally maintained, and the home is professionally cleaned and sanitized between guests.

Please know that we welcome couples and groups of all sizes all year, but do offer couples discounts certain times of year. Next door we also have a new 1 bedroom, 1 bath home available, if you need extra space. Inquire if interested.
Sleeping Space:
The main floor features a Master Suite with a King bed, and another King Bedroom.
Upstairs features a loft and two large King Bedrooms.
The ground floor features two bedrooms - one is a Queen bedroom, and one features twin bunk beds, just outside the den, which can also serve as additional sleeping space.
A $500 refundable security deposit is required for all parties of 4 or less, and $1000 for parties of 5 or greater. We've never had to keep a security deposit, which speaks to the quality of our homes and the caliber of our guests.
To keep rates fair for parties of all sizes, the base rate is for up to 8 guests, but the house legally accommodates up to 16. Rates will adjust accordingly when you enter your dates and number of guests. We do offer discounts for couple, and we also have "The Love Shack" next door for a romantic getaway. It features 1 bedroom, 1 bath, a real wood stove, covered deck and a heart-shaped hot tub.

AGAIN: Please confirm availability with us before booking. We are listed on more than a few booking sites, so dates go quickly and calendars don't always sync. Although we've never had to keep one, a refundable security deposit is required for all stays whether booked directly with us or through a booking site. We also have a reservation agreement that must be signed by all parties upon booking.
