The hotel is very old and the owners are working hard to remodel it but it is taking a long time. The main restaurant is still closed, but the dining area around the bar is still lovely and the food good. It's at the quieter end of town and about a 30 minute stroll to the main part where most of the shops are but we still like to come here.

Scam

Was extremely dirty and way overpriced!! I stayed there before and was never treated so badly!! Check in was bad as i was not going to take the dirty room they had for me so they charged me more and moved me at my cost, not acceptable!! Then i was charged twice what others would have paid for the Luau from the hotel and was set way in the back, unreal!!! Then rain hit and we had to wait 20 minutes in pouring down rain to only get 50% of our tickets refunded!! We did not even get to eat!!! Do not book this hotel as it is a total scam! N

The Hotel is at a great location of you want to be downtown. Property really needs an uplift it looks worn out and outdated. Staff is ok but not super welcoming. In general too pricey for what you get, and although it is next to the ocean, beach is not swimable and pool is small. There is an ok lagoon where you can plunge but there is no service there and loungers are dirty.

Wonderful place to stay

We switched resorts last minute and I am so happy we did. The resort was beautiful, peaceful, and had a nice Hawaiian theme. The food was good, service was friendly, and the staff was accommodating. I would return to or recommend this resort!

Good room, nice balcony woth ocean view. good staff, AC, washrooms etc. The surrounding area and hotel grounds are nice, its right on a walkable strip of tourist spots, shops and restaurants. There wasnt a microwave and parking (with validation) is 25 dollars a night.

Royal Kona Resort is a great resort but it just needs a little work. The rooms and building are really outdated, the room we stayed in had a sticky carpet which was really gross, the couches in the rooms filled with stains all over. For a 2 night stay it was not bad but I cant see myself staying at this resort for more than a weekend. Staff was friendly and the location is great, tons to do and eat.

I love this hotel !

At reception, Mandi and Ann were always so friendly, helpful and accommodating. They took care of all my requests in a satisfactory manner. And the room was bigger than I expected. Great view, too!

Loved the location! The resort had many amenities and the Luau could be seen from the pool and our balcony. Rooms are a little dated but they were clean. Loved the property and location. You can walk into town.
