Beware! We left this rental after 2 nights. Beautiful location, but honestly we should have left after one night. The house was in disrepair and not adequately clean. The screens were torn and “taped” together. The sliding screen would not function at the door. It fell off the track with each use and the screen was gorilla taped together. 2 of the stove burners did not light. The washing machine was out of order, which was fine as they did email us about that prior to the stay. I have stayed in vintage homes on Kauai before. I am not a snob, but disrepair like this is not acceptable. The absolute worst thing was the mosquitoes. I killed over 50 the first night INSIDE the house. I was bit over 40 times on my exposed shoulder, neck and face while sleeping. Was it the torn screens? Is there a huge nest of mosquitoes under the house? I don’t know, but decided I could not be bit again. We left at 9pm to look for other accommodations. I believe Parrish should not manage this listing. I think homes like this tarnish their reputation. Ben at Parrish was understanding and quick to respond. After explaining the situation, we were reimbursed for unused days. So, that being said, I would not even consider renting this home.

The house had everything we needed to cook, blend drinks, and serve meals. The house was clean, the beds were comfortable. You dont need AC units here as the combination of fans and ocean breezes kept us comfortable. The Lanai was our favorite spot. This is where we ate breakfast, enjoyed cocktails, and watched the occasional rain storm. We were blessed with rainbows every morning! We also has within walking distance a nice restaurant and places to swim and snorkel. Parrish Renal Agency was very responsive to any questions we had. I found Kailani very helpful with the check in process and both Kevin and Michelle helped answer questions and provided guidance for checking out. This team of friendly, professional people made our stay seamless and enjoyable. Thank you all for helping our family create memories of a lifetime!

Beautiful view

If you enjoy the view of the ocean, hearing the waves crashing on to the rocks.. birds and parakeets at night and also we got to see turtles every evening.. this is the place. Local shops. Love it! Thank you for sharing your home.

Great view and location!

Overall great stay at Hale Ulili. Location right on water , beautiful views and three full bedrooms as advertised. Clean and compact kitchen and great deck/ lanai to enjoy the view from. Working with Parrish group was clear and well communicated. Some small improvements we would be more modern bathrooms and cleanup of one drain. Also note there is no A/c but breeze does blow through nicely on water and you have ceiling fans (very Hawai’i )

Fantastic Location

We chose this place because of the location. It did not disappoint. One could not be closer to the waves. The home is a dated but charming. The furnishings are modest but the appliances are updated and the property absolutely did everything we needed it to do. We would stay here again.

Beautiful oceanfront home

Perfect size house for our family of 4, including teenagers. Ideal location on the mostly sunny south side of the island, but close to most of the island’s sites. We loved the large lawn right on the shoreline. We explored the beach previously mentioned in a review. Located at the end of the road, it’s a short hike to a beautiful secluded beach. Property management was attentive, but we had no issues. Fans are available if nature sounds get too loud.

You get what you pay for

Great location and ambience with wonderful views of sunsets and Spouting Horn in the distance. Otherwise, this is a run down house that needs a lot of updates: the second day of our stay (Christmas Day) we tried to cook a meal in the kitchen and discovered there was no gas! The propane tanks were completely empty. Had we not brought an Instapot we would have eaten microwave dinners for Christmas. They rigged a propane tank to the gas pipes so that we could cook for the rest of the week. Even more concerning was the faucet at the back of the house: it broke off when we turned it on! Water started spewing out of the pipe and we could not find the water shutoff valve for 2 hours. As the plumber was off for Christmas we had to shut off the water after we all showered to prevent the backyard from flooding. He came the next day to cap off the broken faucet. The house is old and in bad need of upgrades. The gas and water pipes have corroded from years of exposure to salt water. We figured there was a leak in the propane system that lead to all the gas in the tanks leaking out. The screen doors also kept falling off their tracks, letting in the mosquitos that ate us alive inside the house, and flies that buzzed around the garbage and food in the kitchen. Finally, this is NOT a quiet house: the waves crashing on shore at night are LOUD, the roosters start crowing at 4 in the morning, and flocks of birds made loud chirping noises. The views are gorgeous and the location is very convenient: walking distance to the Beach House (over-rated and over-priced), Spouting Horn, Botanical Gardens, and beaches; but the house itself is falling apart bit by bit, year by year.

Beautiful sunsets from top and bottom lanai’s.

The house is not fancy; it is a Hawaii beach house. But the backyard on the rocky shore, the view of the coast and Spouting Horn in the distance with lovely sunsets and pleasant afternoons are priceless. The house is well appointed with the appliances you need to cook simple meals and we loved dining on the lanai visited by the local chickens. The property managers are attentive and they even bought a roasting pan so we could cook our Thanksgiving Turkey! Comfortable for 5. Six will work for families. I think 2 couples are the limit though. Well located within walking distance of 2 beaches plus a baby beach and lots of shopping nearby. We love Kauai and this was a great place for our family to come together. Mahalo and Aloha.

Awesome view and location

The backyard view is unbeatable and house is in a great location - easy to get to shops and restaurants but have plenty of privacy. Sunsets from the backyard are amazing and we saw lots of turtles in the ocean right off the backyard. The interior of the house is a little rundown and could use some updates but it was an awesome place to stay and the view is incredible.

Great Place for Six People

We had three couples. When we first arrived, the third bedroom was not set up as a king bed, maintenance came right away to fix the problem. The dryer had just went out before we got there - problem taken care of right away! The stay itself was great. If you are okay with sharing one bathroom - it works great. The living room area is smaller than what it looks like. Only four people can fit on couches - while others have to sit at kitchen table. But we did that only one night - the rest of the time we were out on the covered porch - along with all our new friends - Guido, Bruster, Spot, and Henny Penny. Loved the roosters and hen. The kitchen could be a little better stocked with containers for leftovers. So I would suggest when you stop at Costco/grocery - pick up plastic wrap, baggies, cheap storage containers. You will also need to pick up any spices/condiments/oils you will want. The home was very clean. It is very close to everything! You can walk to Beach House and even up to the mall - which contains Merrimens, Tortialla Republic, Longs Drugs, along with a walk to Spouting Horn. You are very close to the beach at Poi Pu. I would definitely stay there again. We spent so much time on the porch in the morning and evening. The lawn is great. You can sit on the wall and watch the turtles. We saw so many whales we almost didn't need to do a whale watching trip. We will be staying here again.

Perfect location - unreal sunset

This home is in a great location on the south side. Not far from Koloa, Poipu, the West side, Waimea Canyon, Lihue and many beaches. We stayed here 1/2 of our time in Kauai and enjoyed sunsets nearly every day. The hot tub was a great way to relax - although if you add more than 1 person the water cools off and doesn’t seem to heat back up. The master suite was fantastic! Everything we needed for the beach was there, which was great. We cooked most of our meals at the house and it had everything we needed (note: no oven, but that didn’t bother us). The chickens didn’t seem to bad around this house either so wake up calls weren’t too horrible. If you’re looking for a nice beach, check out the secret beach down the road - pull out of the driveway and go left until the road ends, park and walk around the gate and follow the path to the secret beach - it was great!! Highly recommend this property!!

Perfect location, dated accommodations

This property directly overlooks the ocean, and we saw sea turtles, dolphins, and whales from the hot tub! It also has portable beach chairs/boogie boards/fans. The interior of the home has likely not been updated in many years. In addition, the public space is quite small. It was a perfectly fine place to stay otherwise.
