Renter beware....
Read the reviews, make better choices. This was an absolute miserable nightmare, it started with ZERO communication from the host, my wife and I were literally standing in the Kota Kinabalu airport after immigration with zero information from our host.. that's after almost 2 days of messages through the VRBO & Expedia porthole, it finally took VRBO management to call her and that was arduous, finally after 3 hours waiting at the airport we got apartment number and access information... That was the LAST TIME we heard from our host. The apartment looked ok, the Air conditioner was COLD, but that was about it, the unit looked clean however that was surface clean, there was a disgusting amount of rotten food still on the kitchen backsplash and under counters, the bathroom has mold and no one has EVER moved a piece of furniture to clean. The balcony was covered in cigarette ashes I messaged my host numerous times about things with no response, (LOVE WHATSAPP). it keeps a record of all communication. The unit was left with a half roll of toilet paper, again no response from our host.
Do yourself a favor and pass on this and all ALAWA managed properties. We decided to leave and move on, after informing VRBO that it was a disaster the host said she had never received any messages from me... VRBO had to get into the middle and fix it, it's too much stress for a simple stay.
