Great experience of a non Western stay. Staff was all very friendly, room was comfortable, hot soaks were AMAZING after a few very active days of walking. We opted for a lighter dinner in the bar area and had an amazing time with great views of the garden. Breakfast was delicious and a new experience that we loved.
Awesome stay! The private onsen were great- as were the public ones. I loved the Kimonos and pajamas that were provided!! The futon mattress for the floors were not very padded made for uncomfortable night sleep.
Amazing place to stay with attentive staff, centrally located and quiet in beautiful Arashiyama, conveniently situated right across the street from the train station. No need to worry about noise, as the station is the end of the line, thus service is not as crowded or frequent. The staff were fantastic and even had a small gift for my girlfriend when we checked in on her birthday. The private onsens were delightful, clean, and super convenient to use. The food was wonderfully traditional and quite an impressive spread. Rooms were traditional and very spacious, especially coming from Tokyo. Location provided exactly what we wanted from or visit to Kyoto, and the local town of Arashiyama is stunning. Would highly recommend this onsen resort for anyone desiring a relaxing retreat in a beautiful and idyllic quiet town.
Super helpful staff. Clean and beautiful onsen. Excellent chef, the food was amazing. Instructions on use of the onsen eg naked or not, would have been helpful.
We really enjoyed our stay here. A 20 minute walk from the JR Rail station. Check in was a little painful but we managed to get through it. The hotel is beautiful and we loved the onsens. If you have tattoos, like I do, they have 5 private ones to enjoy. The rooms are small but cozy. Overall or stay was great.

Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
we had very high expectations from this place and was a little disappointed. I booked it based on the definitions at Hotel.com and they asked me to pay an additional $160 for my 9 year old at the check-in. The hotel is super old and not well maintained. the hot springs is not that impressive and overrated.
Lovely Japanese Inn perfect for sight seeing Arashiyama and with easy access to other parts of Kyoto and beyond as train station right on the doorstep. Amazing Japanese breakfast!
Fantastic for families and individuals looking for a ryokan experience that is located next to popular experiences. The staff is fantastic - helpful and welcoming, constantly working to keep the resort clean and tidy. The food is good featuring seasonal ingredients. The private onsen are our favourite feature. This hotel is located next to the Arashiyama bamboo forest, monkey park, temples and market which makes it an excellent choice for folks that want everything and low on time. Thank you for a great stay.
This is the first Onsen I've ever stayed at. I wasn't certain of what to expect but was pleasantly delighted by the experience. I'm sure others were too as the had many staying at the property. We were able to use the private onsens at 5 in the morning. But from what I could see, it got very crowded later in the day. I wish we could have stuck around the property more, but since we had a short time in Kyoto, we spent much of it exploring the surrounding area which was charming.
