Cabin on Sand Lake

Enjoy peaceful lake views, a scenic pond, and a fenced pasture on this private, rural property spanning nearly 100 shared acres with a half mile of Sand Lake shoreline and a sandy swimming beach.

This cozy cottage features a private queen bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and a comfortable living area. There is also a main home on the property that sleeps up to eight guests, which can be rented separately or together for larger groups.

The Space
Relax and unwind in a truly private setting—you won’t see neighbors from the yard. The property offers multiple outdoor seating areas, several fire pits, wooded trails, and a dock for fishing. Just outside the cottage is a shared patio with a gas grill.

Take a short walk through the woods to the hand-built stabor (primitive cabin), located at a junction of trails with beautiful lake views.

In the winter, enjoy direct access to a snowmobile trail from the property. Sand Lake is also perfect for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing—bring your gear and explore.

Pets are welcome with a fee and must be leashed.

Guest Access
Guests have access to the dock, lakeside sitting areas, trails, and the stabor. The trails are great for walking, running, or a short fat-tire bike loop, with additional biking trails nearby. There’s also a scenic two-mile run through the woods.

Please note: there is some poison ivy in the wooded areas, so we recommend staying on the trails.

This property also includes another home that can be booked together for larger groups, making it an ideal setting for small weddings or family gatherings.

No AC even in window so very muggy and towels and sheets were wet from humidity. Parts of wall falling off. Water was pure orange so skin smelled like metal after soap. Couldn’t wash teeth with. Large stain on couch. No clear indication in email about which building, it’s someone’s property but no driveway or sign and no prior in email “right building when you enter property on the left without driveway. “I wanted something cozy and quantity and for the price it was terrible.

Nice quiet place for a great price! Barely saw the neighbors in the big house. Cabin is nice inside and faces east so can see the sunrise and in the back of the property is a nice open green space to walk the dogs and can see the sunset. My only gripe is the water quality it has a metallic smell and taste so I suggest bring your own water.

Two rentals very near one another, but no other homes in the immediate area. Some, not a lot, of traffic noise from the near by gravel road. Otherwise, a blissfully quiet and secluded site. Prior review mentioned a mouse concern....but we saw none, nor any evidence of their pressence other than a couple set traps which went undisturbed. Super clean, thought the bedroom curtains could use a going over. We lucked out and had the property all to ourselves. Great sunrise over the lake. The majestic, well cared for oaks are stunning. Perfect lake view sitting and good access to the dock, though I couldn't manage the way due to old, worn out knees. We really wanted to enjoy the firepits, but plans didn't accommodate...but what a great set up. We didn't need our camp chairs, but they were put to use in the cottage. The super comfortable memory foam mattress, sold us on getting one. SOTA was quick to send someone to address a ground wasp nest at the cottage patio. My only criticism with regard to cleanliness is that the bedroom curtains were very dusty/dirty. Not a big deal unless you have allergies to dust. (Yup, that would be me.) Seeing the many swans in the pond up the road was a special treat for us. No designated place to hang clothes, so prepare accordingly. We just hung them on the shower frame.I think it would be wise, however, to plug the frig into a dedicated receptacle rather than an extension cord.Great place.

Perfect fall getaway

This was a fall getaway for us. The cabin was small enough to be cozy but very clean and had everything you could need. It was very warm and welcoming on a damp fall afternoon after hiking the trails on the property. The stabor would be the perfect place to spend time reading or just relaxing. Only thing missing up there was a hammock for napping. Thanks for sharing your slice of heaven with us.

The place has mice and other animals in the walls and cabinets. Could have been a little cleaner. No place to put our clothes except on the couch. The bathroom was very nice. An extra towel would have been nice also. Was overall disappointed.

Perfect Getaway

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our time in the one bedroom space at Sand Lake Cottage. The kitchen was adequately supplied with dishes & utensils and a propane grill was right outside. This quiet setting with its shady outdoor seating allowed us to enjoy the view of the beautiful lake for hours. We also enjoyed the fire pit and hiking trails. If I am in the area again we will definitely stay there again.

Perfect location, beautiful views

This was the perfect location for our weekend activities. The cottage was clean and bed was very comfy. The view of the lake was very pretty, in fact, Friday night we watched the full moon rise above the lake - beautiful! I would stay here again.
