La Baguette was the 18th century boulangerie for the farm. Now it is the perfect place to relax and unwind in the heart of the Normandy countryside. It is just 7km from the vibrant town of Villedieu-les-Poêles, with its bell foundry, copper workshops, bars and restaurants, and a similar distance from the local landmark of L’Abbaye d’Hambye and its serene riverside walks. The gite is within 25 minutes drive of Granville, the birthplace of Christian Dior, where you can catch a ferry to the island of Jersey for a day trip! The sublime, sandy beach of St Martin de Brehal is also 25 minutes drive. The cathedral city of Coutances is about half an hour’s drive. Mont St Michel, the biggest tourist attraction in Normandy makes a great day trip. You might also like to visit the famous tapestry at Bayeux, and perhaps drive a little further up the coast to explore the D Day landing beaches.
La Baguette has its own parking space and a private garden, where you can recline in the sun, enjoy dining al fresco and watch the beautiful sunsets. The property has been renovated to a high standard with oak furniture, leather sofa, and Laura Ashley soft furnishings. The vaulted and beamed bedroom has a king sized bed and a very comfortable mattress. A hair dryer is provided. The lounge area has a comfortable seating arrangement and offers French/English satellite TV and free wireless broadband. The kitchen is fully equipped for those who like to cook whilst away! The property has heating for those that like to visit in the cooler months. There are boulangeries located in nearby Hambye, Gavray and Percy for your morning croissants and these towns also have supermarkets. We will provide a cot and highchair on request, but please bring baby’s own cot bedding. Please note that bookings are Saturday to Saturday.

A week of total relaxation

Normandy Break

The property is in a rural location, quiet county lanes that are very good for walks & using the bikes which are provided ,fun. We don’t have dogs & whilst the house is dog-friendly, it doesn’t smell of dog at all and it’s very clean. Carol & Pete are very kind & helpful hosts, easily contactable & good communication. Directions to property were very easy to follow. A suggestion would be to shop at a large supermarket en route before arriving at the property.

A beautiful, quite and relaxing holiday home.

My wife and I were after a quiet break in the Manche countryside. La Baguette ticked every box for us. Perfect in every way. A lovely building, well kept and very quiet. Pete and Carol are lovely hosts and great to chat to, we met old Skip too, their lovely old dog. We took our tandem and had a secure place to leave it. We can highly recommend cycling in the area, it's virtually traffic free. All in all, the perfect place for a quiet getaway for couples.

Une semaine de repos dans un cadre très agréable

La Baguette, la Tiny house tout en confort. Située au calme avec son petit jardin clôturé privatif on a pu souffler quelques jours au calme avec nos 2 poilus. Tout était nickel à notre arrivée. Draps - papier wc - mouchoirs - produits d entretien - gel et savon étaient fournis. Top. De belles ballades à faire dans les environs mais les plages ne sont pas loin non plus (30 min en voiture). Une très chouette ballade à la pointe d Agon, réserve scientifique et lieu d élevage des moules de corde. Un chouette resto à découvrir: en pleine nature à Lengronne (11km). Vraiment une très bonne expérience. Merci à Carol la propriétaire pour toutes les informations fournies.

ABSOLUTELY PERFECT

La Baguette was everything is could hope for! It was private and peaceful first and foremost for us. Secondly it was perfectly clean and beautifully arranged. Carol and Peter, the owners Were wonderful and welcoming and were we to live closer would become great friends. I would recommend this property to anyone wanted to relax and enjoy the Normandy countryside and area. You can reach any part of the region and there are so many things to see. Beaches are 30 minutes away and are just stunning. Will definitely return. 😀😀😀😀❤️

Just lovely!

We had a fabulous two week stay at La Baguette. The gite is ideal for two, clean, cosy and renovated to an extremely high standard. We felt quite at home and would have love to have stayed longer. Carol and Pete were great hosts - we didnt want for anything, but knew that we could ask had the need arisen. The area is glorious - so much to see and do that it was difficult to stay 'at home', but when we did the garden was a joy. BBQ, amazing food and beautiful sunsets. The location too, was great for an evening stroll or cycle. We will definitely be back to this wonderful area of France and would have no hesitation in returning to La Baguette also. Superb in every way

We had a fantastic fortnight stay at the gite, During our stay Pete and Carol extended the footprint of the garden which became a great playground for our dog! We can not fault our stay there in any way and would highly recommend it all!

Anniversary break

Booked this property at the last minute to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary- and the whole process couldn’t have gone smoother! No trouble finding the cottage, even though it is off the beaten track, due to the directions given by Carol & Pete. It is an absolutely wonderful place to stay, clean, comfortable - and just right for 2! The area is calm and peaceful, but you are also not far from interesting places to visit - Bayeux; Dinan and the D-Day beaches were some of our favourites! It has a lovely garden area where you can sit, relax and enjoy a drink after a days sightseeing. Would thoroughly recommend to anyone wanting to get away from it all - and we will definitely be back. Thank you again for a wonderful stay xx

Small is Beautiful.

Beautifully appointed and tastefully decorated. Everything has been thought of, including two bikes for exploring the local area, which was a bonus. It is peaceful and quiet but without feeling isolated in any way. The location is ideal for visiting the south west Cotentin area including Mont St Michel and St Malo in Brittany. One stay at La Baguette will never be enough, we'll be coming back again...and again.
