The Candles life Mill, FORBIDDEN power-ups, BEACH RIVER HOLIDAYS & views ! READ:
READ CAREFULLY BEFORE RESERVING THIS COTTAGE, certainly heavenly, but including the following rule:
Except in cases of extreme danger, it is prohibited to switch on electronic devices (phones, tablets, computers, spotlights, connected accessories such as watches, etc.) in the ENTIRE environment of the mill, including the beach and the car park :
. put everything in airplane mode
. disconnect what may remain (4G, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, location)
. TURN OFF
A former water mill giving it its boat shape, this atypical, slightly fortified building was built before the 13th century and enhanced by Alexandre Rolland after 1507.
Surrounded by nature and overlooking the Arre river, Le Moulin aux Chandelles is today a main house made of coated pebbles with three gîtes "Without Added Waves... or addable", each on its own floor.
The cottage "Les Amoureux de l'Arre" is located on the second half-floor of the mill.
Cévennes breakfast available on your arrival:
Italian coffee maker and ground coffee, apple juice, chestnut cream, jam, bags of all kinds: for hot drinks, madeleines...
In summary, in this furnished green tourism, the most informed and fond of anglicisms - not to say Franglais - will call this type of retreat or disconnected stay: a cure in slow tourism (slow tourism) of digital detox (digital detoxification ) in a healthy home in out-of-reach mode.
Electrosensitive people, EHS (compatible with Electro-HyperSensitivity syndrome), know that few EMFs are ready, but not completely far away either (it's almost impossible these days). It depends on the symptoms specific to each person, we know that. Some feel completely relieved here, others will be more or less sensitive to the few residual/surrounding fields. Let us remember, however, that the Moulin aux Chandelles is more than a gîte without wifi; here, EMFs (Electro-Magnetic Fields) are banned!
Natural air conditioning in this 13th century river pebble building in the most beautiful city... that I know!
Le Vigan is indeed a very pretty town in the Cévennes National Park (middle south of the membership area) and has around 4000 inhabitants.
Sub-prefecture of Gard in the Occitanie region, its complex history was marked by Protestantism, assimilating it to "Huguenot Country".
Between river and mountains, the town, whose plain is approximately 230 meters above sea level, is supplied by natural water from the Iris spring.
In the heart of nature, it only takes a few minutes on foot from the mill to reach the Viganais city center.
Don't miss certain events such as the Ceven Trail which generally takes place at the beginning of March, the unmissable Cévennes Apple and Sweet Onion Fair generally on the fourth Sunday in October, and not to name it, the Critérium national des Cévennes which takes place at the end of October.
Whether you come for a few days during the week, on a weekend, or for a real vacation, there will be no shortage of choices for your stay.
Swimming, visits, treats, evenings in the city, large Saturday morning market (many organic and local farmers), seasonal markets (summer nights), walks, hikes (on site: Bouscaillou, Parcours de l'Arre until at the famous Guinguette d'Avèze), are customary.
You can also discover hidden mysteries at the Cévenol Museum, browse the aisles of the media library, let off steam at the sports complex, or go to the cinema.
Still on foot, a number of amenities are available to you: cafes, bars, tea rooms, restaurants, snack bars, shops (cards, souvenirs, children's, clothing, shoes, fishing and hunting, flea markets, antiques), tobacconist, supermarkets, DIY, pharmacies, opticians and medical centers.
At the back of the Market Halls, the Tourist Office is also there to provide you with information.
Le Vigan is its greetings, the pippin apple to the teeth, and wild garlic in spring.
The Causses and Cévennes: asphodels, megaliths, breu, old cardabelles, spinning mills, silk, the wool of our sheep, goats and its pélardons, sweet onions and chestnuts, porcini mushrooms, mushrooms.
Hunters, gatherers, fishermen, comfort awaits you.
For serious hikers, shorter than the Chemin de Compostela or Le Chemin de Stevenson, Le Moulin aux Chandelles locates your gîte exactly on Le Chemin de Saint-Guilhem-Le-Désert (from L'Espérou and before Navacelles).
Take advantage of it from Le Vigan towards Blandas to discover the megalithic monuments from almost 5000 years before our era: menhirs, cromlechs, or other dolmens...
Among the exceptional sites, by car, allow around 40 minutes for La Couvertoirade or Le Cirque de Navacelles and 50 minutes for Le Chemin de Saint Guilhem Le Désert, Le Pic Saint Loup or Mont Aigoual, for altitude enthusiasts.
