Hotels.com customers are treated badly.

OUTRIGGER Kauaʻi Beach Resort & Spa treats the Hotels.com and Expedia customers badly compared to those who booked through the OUTRIGGER directly. We booked for an Oceanview room but what we were given was a room overlooking the rooftop of the lower-level hotel rooms and the ocean was visible from far distance. When we asked this is not what the Oceanview, they replied “the Oceanview rooms are booked now” and another person behind the counter said “Well, you booked through the Expedia.” Another mistreatment was that, they did not offer to us the discount coupons for the Concierge entertainments but other guests received these coupons.

Overall I loved the resort!! Amelia, at the spa, gave the most amazing massage!! My only complaint is the awful mattress!! They are way too soft! I woke up with a backache, and shoulder and neck pain every morning! Every movement from the other person was felt. This made for very restless nights.

My room overlooked the back of the hotel dumpsters. There was construction going on above my room. I was without electricity and water for an hour for two days. I ended up checking out two days early and he requested a refund for those two days.

The stay was good. The fees for parking with resort fees were expensive and we were unaware of them at booking. Check in time would be more convenient at 2-3pm with families that have children. 4 is so late and hard after traveling all day to arrive in Kauai

Beach access and beach walking were good. Musicians performing in Shutters Bar / Restaurant were excellent. Staff were excellent, friendly and hard working. Pools area was well laid out & maintained ( could do with more umbrellas!). Daily yoga classes on the beach were much appreciated. Location is good for visiting rest of the island. The rooms and balconies were comfortable and well designed.

Booked this for cost savings only…to be closer to the airport for an early flight home. We stayed 2 nights. Upon arrival, we wet checked into a first floor room by the pool. OH MY GOD- the room we were checked into should NOT be in service. The hotel is going through renovations. Our room was OLD, dirty, and had makeshift solutions like a cut out piece of carpet by the sliding patio door, a HUGE weird makeshift door handle to the bathroom that looked like a creepy horror movie lock. This was an ADA room, which we DID NOT need or request. We asked the front desk to change rooms. They were very understanding and accommodating. The room we switched to was more renovated on a higher floor. That room was clean, comfy, etc. BUT the complaint is the first room should be OUT OF SERVICE until renovated. It was embarrassing to me for the hotel honestly.. that they were trying to sell this old, nasty, dysfunctional room. Luckily me, the hubs, and the kids had a good laugh once we moved rooms. Bottom line - check if the hotel is done with renovations before booking it. The pool and location for what we needed it to be (closer drive to Hanalei for a full day there & airport) were good.
