Beautiful, unique property at the top of Alfama right next to the Castelo de Sao Jorge. Wonderful staff - kind and attentive and gorgeous property. We had the Petite room which didn't have a view but it was cozy and enough space. We especially loved the courtyard and the complimentary sparkling wine. A great place to unwind with the peacocks at the end of the day. Highly recommend not driving there there (only taxis and tour operators can get there) but the hotel provides an excellent service to pick you up. Recommended!

A beautiful, unique and character-filled hotel. The bed and bedding were so comfortable, the room (while small) is wonderful and breezy, quiet and exactly right. Staff were unassuming and helpful, and very friendly. The courtyard is a wonderful spot for a morning coffee, cool plunge in the pool, and relaxation with a good book; in the evening, we loved the sparkling wine made available to guests. It was romantic and softly-lit with lanterns, candles, and the firepit. It is everything a boutique hotel should be. If we could come back tomorrow, we would. PS - Loved the peacocks. They just added to the charm. :o)

Gorgeous boutique hotel in wonderful location of Lisbon. We loved the ambience of the hotel and the sunny courtyard patio was a nice pace to relax after a day of exploring Lisbon.

Amazing place with a scenic and delicious breakfast. Be prepared to walk up hills with your luggage, as vehicle can’t access the area, but it’s worth it. Peacocks were noisy, but pretty, facility was very clean, and staff was super friendly.

We would recommend Solar Do Castelo to anyone looking to stay in Lisbon and get immersed in the neighborhood. The accommodations were comfortable and clean. The staff was attentive and thorough. The breakfast and all day snacks were a treat. The courtyard was inviting and the atmosphere warm and friendly. The peacocks were unique and quiet at night. We would definitely stay here again.

Beautiful and unique hotel in an area just outside the castle—-so lots of tourists. Once inside it is very beautiful with wandering peacocks that you hear throughout your stay. There was some confusion and wait when we needed to be picked up and also the taxi was 30 minutes early to go to the airport which we had to pay for. Maybe a better understanding and presence of universal travel at the front desk. The service was very hit and miss and not helpful with restaurants, etc.

The front desk women and room people were excellent! They were always there to help and the hotel is very cozy and charming. Really loved all of the special decorator touches Having the peacocks there was a special touch! Would definitely recommend this hotel even though getting up and down the hotel was a but crazy but for me that added to the experience. Thank you to everyone who made our stay much more pleasant and easy!

This is one of the most magical hotels I have ever stayed in. The service was absolutely impeccable. The staff was kind friendly gracious and truly helpful with every question. I will most certainly return to Solar. It was simply stunning.

This was a wonderful and unique hotel. We felt so important from the moment we arrived. The staff and facitilites were excellent. It is located adjacent to the castle so convenient to the old part of town. They gave excellent food recommendations and arranged reservations. Breakfast was divine! Varied, healthy and delicious. The one tiny drawback was the noise of the beautiful peacocks and hens nearby. They were wonderful to see but I think we were there during mating season. Luckily, the hotel offered earplugs if needed. But it would be something to consider if you are a light sleeper.Otherwise, I cannot fault this wonderful hotel. We can't wait to return.
