Unable to Check In – Unresponsive Host & Property Exterior Was ConcerningUnfortunately, our stay at Secluded Pleasant Valley Hideout never happened because we were unable to check in. The entry code did not work, and we were locked out of the property. We had also messaged the host one day prior to check-in with a question and never received a response. When we couldn’t access the unit, the host still did not respond, and even the VRBO support team was unable to reach them.We also want to note that while the surrounding neighborhood is a quaint community, this particular location felt like an exception and was less than appealing. Parking was limited, and the outside of the property was unkempt, with items like an old broom, mop, and a garden hose that had been left out for quite some time. Based on what we saw outside, we could only imagine what the inside looked like and honestly, we were relieved we never gained access.On a positive note, the VRBO team was extremely professional & helpful in a stressful situation. We were in a lurch and had to book another place quickly (a hotel, unfortunately). VRBO ultimately offered to help find another comparable or better property, and when they learned we had already booked elsewhere, they offered to cover the additional costs we incurred due to this situation.Bottom line: I would not book this property, and I believe VRBO should seriously consider removing this host/listing based on the lack of communication & conditions.
