I always stay at The Standard when in London. Every staff member I’ve met has been lovely and helpful. Friends often meet me there for drinks because the bars and restaurants have some of the best atmosphere in London. Rooms are always clean and well appointed. It’s very conveniently located as Kings X itself is full of amazing shops and restaurants but it’s also the best connected stations in London for public transport. If you’re lucky your room will come with a gorgeous view of St Pancras hotel. And this may seem random but I also love that they have washcloths. For some reason in recent years I’ve found less and less hotels have them. When I stay somewhere I don’t expect to have to bring my own bathing linens. Despite my love of this hotel I do have some small gripes. The room configurations are all so different, which is fun but some aren’t the best for opening large luggage for longer stays. The bins are tiny. I often shop or bring back takeaway food to the hotel and there only these tiny bins with tiny holes to throw larger packaging away. If you stay on any floor close to the top, and are sensitive to sound, bring ear plugs because you’ll hear music from the bars until the wee hours. Similarly, if your room happens to be close to a supply closet expect to hear loud banging from the door more often than you’d anticipate. Despite these issues, the benefits definitely outweigh the negatives. The Standard is the standard for a quality London stay.

Absolutely love this hotel and would stay here again in a heartbeat. Everyone who works here is awesome and always very welcoming. Even the architecture and interior design of the hotel is awesome. My only 2 complaints are that I hate a bathroom with no door (especially when the shower is right next to the open arch), and I don’t quite understand the toilet down the hall and separate from the bathroom? But those are small inconveniences more than anything. Like I said, I adore this hotel and will be coming back :)

A nice junior suite

Was down to see friends for a couple of nights and I stayed in a junior suite. Lovely room. I’d brought my electric toothbrush and they don’t have the charging ports in the bathroom so I went to buy a manual toothbrush too, they should probably mention they don’t have electric charging sockets in the bathrooms to avoid this - or provide manual toothbrushes. Service was very good, Jess on reception was lovely, but I had asked for an iron to be sent up because they charge for steaming your clothes, a first I have ever heard of in any 5 star hotel (generally I stayed at Chiltern Firehouse and recently Ham Yard, Raffles at OWO, Nobu etc and no one has ever charged for this, which I found a bit of a shock and they charge 50% more if you want it on the same day- dry cleaning I understand, but steaming I expect to be a complimentary service). The first two irons didn’t work and another person bought one up that finally worked. Roof bar spot on Cleanliness - when I looked at my shower, I found that my shower hadn’t previously been rinsed of someone’s else’s hair who had used the room before me, which isn’t the end of the world, but also not what I expect from a 5 star hotel. I wasn’t asked about my stay when checking out, only what I had from the minibar. No one asked me about the 5% optional service charge they email you about either, she just input an amount that was taken off card automatically, so unsure if I paid that and thought that was quite sly if they had added it in.

Staff are rude. Especially at the restaurant. It is a rooftop restaurant that caters to locals. Staff are more interested in drinking with their friends than working or acting in a service capacity. Hotel is close to king’s cross which is convenient. But dine elsewhere.
