I really enjoyed my stay! The view of the ocean from my room was absolutely beautiful—especially during sunrise and sunset. Having a private balcony made it even better; it was the perfect spot to relax, unwind, and take in the peaceful scenery. I also appreciated the convenience of having a restaurant right inside the hotel. The food was great, and it was nice not having to leave the property to enjoy a good meal. Overall, it was a great experience. The atmosphere was calm, the service was solid, and the location right by the water made it feel like a mini escape. I’d definitely stay here again.

Pros and Cons

The pros: Our room at Hotel Maya was clean and cute. Although the view from our room was not necessarily impressive, the views from the hotel property are beautiful. We enjoyed a convenient and quick walk to the Queen Mary. The cons: Nobreakfast or even complimentary coffee- boo. We had a reservation for four, and only got two towels in the bathroom. The hallways of the hotel are like an echo chamber, and we had loud (or possibly argumentative) neighbors hollering outside our door throughout our stay. We had a terrible experience at the bar, paying about 3-4 times more for coffee than our highest possible prediction (no prices were posted). Our bill for a regular coffee and two small Irish coffees was $86 after tax and service fee. We quickly learned to eat/drink off site. Overall, I’m not sure I’d stay here again unless the rate was significantly less. It just didn’t have a welcoming vibe.

Upon arrival, the 5 of us checked-in, and were made aware at this time due it being the 4th of July week, we had to wear blue bracelets signifying we were guests of the hotel and not random strangers trying to order drinks poolside. Rooms were dirty, with chewed nicotine pouches left on nightstand next to bed and phone; just gross. Face towel had stains and looked used. Housekeeping staff were excellent and attentive. Bartenders were great but drink prices were ridiculous; still had a great time. We loved how close our stay was to the cruise terminal, but for the amount we paid, I was expecting rooms to be held at a higher standard of cleanliness. Convenience over cleanliness, no thank you!

It’s nice as long as you don’t get there too early & there’s nothing around , so if you don’t have a rental you’ll be spending an arm & legs to get a cab or Uber.
