This inn is a very dated waterfront property. Entrance is right off the street but there is no front desk; signs point you to check in downstairs at the pub. She gave us our room keys and that was the last we saw of staff. Entrance into the inn doesn’t appear to be secure? Staff didn’t explain if the main door would be locked after hours, how to get in, or how to contact anyone in an emergency, but fortunately it wasn’t required. Windows don’t open to allow fresh air but we did book a balcony; which is directly visible from the restaurant/pub next door. Shower was a stand-up shower (not a tub). The beds were sooooo saggy and the pillows so lousy. There wasn’t a bedside lamp so no reading in bed for me. Housekeeping did refresh the towels and soap but didn’t make the beds? I dunno what I expected but something a bit more quaint, cozy and updated would have been a real plus. It was clean, and we had a nice view of the Bluenose II and harbour but the dock lights shine right into the room. Boo.
