Our family really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Casa dos Frades — the staff were kind and helpful, and the room was clean and comfortable though lighting could be improved. It's hard to give an accurate assessment as the first stay was in a room facing the square and the noise from bands and the night clubs made sleeping impossible till well after midnight. On the second stay we were in a back room which was quiet but the room was very small. That aside the location was excellent, the placed oozed with charm and the breakfast was excellent.

Hotel was nicely located. Hotel was clean, breakfast was very good, and staff was very nice. HOWEVER, there were parts of the hotel, including my room that had an overwhelming mildew/mold smell. Also, lock up everything in your suitcase before you leave for the day. My wife left her sunglasses out when we returned, they were taken from the room, most likely by the cleaning staff. No issues once we locked up our belongings.
