We arrived and nobody had told me I would need permission for my niece to stay with me. We had to then get an email sent from her parents (this is understandable tbh) but we should have been informed prior to arrival. We got to the room and there were hairs in the sink, urine in the toilet, carpet was soaking, ceiling looked like it was about to fall in. Tried to go back down to complain but could t find anyone. We also had to get ready for the Chris Brown concert. Tv didn’t work again not an issue for us as we were heading out. But for others who were spending a bit of time in the hotel room would have been disappointed.

Room was incredibly warm and we didnt sleep that well for our entire stay. No air conditioning either, which if I had known prior to booking would have stopped me from doing so. It was like something akin to trying to sleep in a sauna. Never again...

All you need, in the right place!

Fantastic central location in a very grand looking building. If we're being picky the room did look a bit tired (slightly peeling wallpaper/ceiling finish/lots of regrouted tiles i the bathroom etc) BUT everything was clean, everything worked, the staff were pleasant, the bed was comfy enough for a night's sleep and the check-in and check out process was simple. Not the Ritz, but more than adequate for a night or two and at a fantastic price.

I can't say I'll be in a rush to stay here again. Between: - The RFID tag in the room card failed on me 3 times in the space of 24 hours - Being told I had a room with a window, only to find it was this pathetic excuse for a window and equally terrible view - The staff being apathetic. - The other people staying on the Saturday night do not understand that shouting at each other gone 2 am is not acceptable, and neither is talking as though you're on a busy high street at 4 am - The bed being about as comfy as a hostel bed - There is no number to call for any issues that might come up, and instead, an OUTDATED note about using the phone in the room (when there is no phone in the room) telling me to press 0 to get through to reception - Not being told on this website about the Manchester hotel tax?? Thankfully it wasn't much but still, undisclosed pricing is really shady. Especially when its a tax. All in all, it's made me not want to stay at the Britannia or use this site again. I paid a not small amount to get 6 hours of sleep between Friday and Sunday morning, I don't feel I got a fair deal here.
