Float with Us To Save the Water & Save the World! The Azul Project concept was created in 2010 by James Douglas as an effort to bring awareness to the importance of Conserving Water! In 2018, we thought how else could you get closer to the concept of water's significance then by floating on it, near Atlantic Ocean Beaches, & calling it your home away from home! Float with us while remaining plugged into your own personal WiFi!
The space
This space adopted a Hawksbill Bale - Travel with Purpose when you stay with us and assist in global efforts to help save this beautiful endangered species! The Azul Project, a 2004 44' Gibson Houseboat!
Soak up the sunshine or stay tucked inside cuddled up with your favorite book and enjoy the North Carolina fresh salty air!
The Aft Master Stateroom has a Vanity, Dresser Storage, adjoining bath with electric head (toilet) and sink! (NOTE: Shower onboard is not for use. Just steps away from boat are two showers located in Marina building next to laundry room. There are also several other showers with regular indoor plumbing located in the Clubhouse that you have access to during your stay. These spaces are maintained by the Marina and not your host.)
Also, on board is a well equipped kitchen with refrigerator and freezer (bring your own ice), microwave, pantry, double sink, 3-burner range & dining area! You will notice oven in picture but it is NOT an offered amenity.
Located in the Salon is a sofa with Roku Smart TV, DVD player with several DVDs and AM/FM radio! Note - cable/satellite not provided.

Carpet on stairs and LVT flooring throughout the rest of the boat!
Lots of outdoor decking! NOTE - No outdoor shade coverage due to high winds that can creep up on us in the OBX and could cause a safety issue.
Guest access
Full access of the boat and all its noted amenities with the exception of the ability to drive boat! Able to park car for free in parking lot...just steps away from boat!

OPTIONAL - Stand up paddle boards rental for your use at your own risk - paddles and life vests provided! Location is close by in Nags Head. Ask your host to arrange for this extra amenity during your stay!

Other things to note
The houseboat is floating at a slip where tide fluctuates - therefore you may have to step down or up to enter the boat.
Please remember this is a boat and therefore water pressure is different then what you may be used to with the indoor plumbing in your home! As mentioned earlier you have access to several full bathrooms with private showers with hot water. Hot water does not flow on the boat sinks!
Split type ductless system provides Heat & AC on boat.
Please ask your host if pool is open during your stay, if the pool is important to you, as it is maintained by the Marina and not your host.
Please bring your own beach/recreational towels.
One bath towel and wash cloth provided per person.
During your stay at this houseboat, you'll be within walking distance of Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse. Features include a gym and laundry facilities.

The host requires you to complete the following before checking out:

Gather used towels

Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish

Turn off the lights, lock the doors and return the keys

Leave in a pile in hamper or bathroom. Leave bed alone - do not strip!

Remove all trash from house (kitchen, bathroom, etc) place in dumpster outside of house. Make sure all dishes are clean, dry and put away. 

Turn all lights off. Set AC to 74 in summer and Heat to 68 in the winter at departure. Lock all doors & windows at your departure. If a key was used please put it back in lockbox.

Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

When we first saw the boat, it was quaint and the view was so beautiful!! The water and the dock was so peaceful. we hopped on the boat and went inside. The inside was already cool and comfortable. The boat was furnished nicely and I had no complaints with the cleanliness. we enjoyed our stay on top of the deck where we ate some seafood from steamers and watched the sun go down. It was beautiful. The only thing that I would change is the bathroom situation. We could not put toilet paper in the toilet, so it was a minor inconvenience to put our used toilet paper in the garbage bag. The bathroom will have a slight smell to it due to the toilet being somewhat of a porta potty. We just kept it clean with the toilet brush and some cleaner. The parking can be a challenge if the restaurant is busy. The first night we were there we had to park near the clubhouse which is a good size walk. The second night we had no problem finding a spot near the boat. The clubhouse is at the beginning of the property and the boat is almost to the end of the property, which does mean that if your older like us, then it would be wise to drive there and not walk. This is also where you will take a shower. These inconveniences were very minor compared to the location, price, and beauty of the area. I would stay again.

Everything was so lovely on the Azul Project! Our first night was a bit rough because there was a gale warning and the wind/water was a lot for these landlubbers, but once the weather settled down and the water was calm, we thoroughly enjoyed our time on the boat. It was incredibly relaxing; communication with our host was fabulous; the area felt safe and was super easy to navigate. Thank you to Gia for hosting us; we'll be sure to recommend and will be back!

Wonderful trip

My husband and I had a amazing trip, Gia was the best host , a pleasure to talk with. The boat was clean and beautiful, amazing views from both decks , we used the kayaks and paddled on a quiet waterway in the morning and enjoyed swimming at the club pool afterwards. I can't say enough wonderful things, a weekend wasn't long enough, we look forward to coming back. Thank you for sharing your boat with us.

I love the boat. Emails were answered in a timely manner.. Was not able to enjoy the pool or the other extra. Every time I went the door was locked was told yesterday where the key was…..I was so scared of getting on and off the boat. I had no clue the distance from the deck to the boat. I honestly only went out when I had to. Nice people on the deck though many people helped me out.

Wonderful Escape to Manteo

My wife and I booked the Azul for a weekend Easter getaway. We had a lovely time. Gia was a wonderful host and communicated very well how to check in and informed me of boat policies. We spent most of our time on the sundeck with the nice outdoor furniture and artificial grass carpet. I felt like I was being rocked gently to sleep at night on the very comfortable bed. Stripers Bar and Grill, Darrells Seafood Resraurant, and McDonalds are all easily walkable from this boat. Will definitely recommend this place. Thank you Gia!!! We were honored to stay here.

Houseboat Vacationing

I very much enjoyed this unique experience of houseboat living. I knew I would enjoy the marina life and being on the water sounded wonderful. However, it really is not really dependent on the tides as to how your are able to board the boat. You WILL have at least 3 feet to step/jump over to get on the boats deck. As a single person, I found this not to work very well. My suitcase and groceries were difficult at times to bring onboard by myself. With that being said, the last day there, one of the bags I was bringing with me ended up at the bottom of the sound with my Jeep Fob in it. Make sure you keep your keys on a floatable keyring. Not just this case, but I feel these sites do a horrible job with check-in directions in general. Terrible. I had no idea where the boat was and I was coming in late at night. Gia, as host, was great. Quick responses and very helpful. If you are not aware of septic systems that cannot accept anything but waste, no paper, no nothing...that takes a little getting used too. Overall, it was a nice time....My only real issue with how to get on and off the boat easily, L- Wallace

Christmas night getaway

My sweetie and I got a chance to run away on Christmas Day and so I decided to surprise him with a night on the ocean in a boat,,, the furthest thing from our mountain farm. It was perfect!!! Roomy and tons of windows, the waves rocked us to sleep and the sunrise woke us up. I can’t wait to book again for a longer stay in the summer when I can use all the decks to take naps. Thanks for your speedy response to my questions! Love love love it❤️
