The Lookout is just minutes from North Cascades National Park, and features private walking trails, a seasonal creek, stunning mountain views, and plenty of space to relax and unwind. Because the Evergreen Cascades Lookout is surrounded by wilderness, you may encounter local wildlife during your stay. Deer, birds, and other forest animals are commonly seen in the area. We ask guests to be respectful of the natural environment and help us preserve the peaceful beauty of this special place.
Security cameras: The Lookout has two exterior security cameras for property safety. One camera is located at the driveway and one camera is located at the front door. These cameras monitor exterior access areas only. There are no cameras inside the home and no cameras pointed toward private areas.
Important Note About North Cascades National Park:
We’re just an 11-minute drive from the western entrance of North Cascades National Park! From late November or early December through April or May, Highway 20 closes seasonally at Ross Dam Trailhead (milepost 134) on the west side and Silver Star Gate (milepost 171) on the east.
You can still access Evergreen Cascades Lookout year-round via the west side of Highway 20. While you can’t drive all the way through North Cascades National Park in winter, you’re welcome to snowshoe in from the closure gate, about an 11 minute drive away. Other great winter outings nearby include forest hikes in Rockport State Park, about 10 minutes away, weekend bald eagle walks at the Skagit River Interpretive Center, about 10 minutes away from December to February, easy year-round walks in Newhalem like Trail of the Cedars and Ladder Creek Falls, about 20 minutes away, Happy Creek Forest Walk, about 35 to 40 minutes away, or a scenic drive to Diablo Lake Vista Point for winter views, about 40 minutes away, weather permitting.
While the garage and other structures are unavailable for use, the house and entire property are for your use only and private structures are clearly marked and out of your way :)
