A typical Kiwi bach experience with a few mod cons, this is the perfect escape from the city. Book now to experience a quintessential New Zealand beach holiday!



Enjoy the large flat lawn, great for summer games and lounging in the garden enjoying a BBQ. The house has open plan living, 2 bedrooms, bathroom with shower, WC and laundry and comfortably sleeps 5.

The Neighborhood:

Relaxed - the whole Matapouri community is a summer playground, with kids jumping off the bridge into the river. Stalls at the Matapouri hall, walks on grass verges to avoid hot summer road, from the ice-cream parlour back to the beach - or for delicious wood fired pizza on offer in summer season back to the bach. Matapouri Memories is right amongst it in walking distance to it all.

Extremely well equipped bach

This bach had an amazing supply of utensils, crockery and cutlery in the kitchen. Also, currently, salt, pepper and other spices, cooking oil, salad oil and vinegar. A large fridge and chest freezer. Plenty of gas for the BBQ.Whole place is extremely clean and well maintained.Short walk to the store and a slightly longer walk, 500 metres, to the beach.

Family fun

An excellent property for our family of 7. The only thing missing was a wok for stir frying and a proper pot scrub. Lots of saucepans but difficult to find lids that matched. Learnt how to do ‘triple sheeting’ with the excellent quality linen supplied. The property owner needs to ensure that the shed behind the sleepout is locked - the combination lock was open when we arrived. Better cleaning of floors under furniture and of rugs is recommended. Outdoor lighting on the back lawn would have lengthened the hours we spent playing Finska.

Great location. House was clean on appearance however could definitely do with a decent clean especially carpets and under couches etc. Also the vacuum in the sleepout didn't work.

Great bach for larger groups

This bach was perfect for our group of four adults and six kids. Short walk from the beach and 100m from the dairy and fish and chip shop. Sheltered sunny outdoor area and simple bach accommodation but well equipped for cooking, be mindful that spices etc are limited but they do have Nespresso machine which was a bonus. Good size and clean BBQ and lovey BBQ area.

The property is really conveniently located! Very close to the beach and the corner store which do good coffee and yummy takeaway. The property suited our family of 11 really well and the kitchen was very equipped. Just a note that the 2nd bedroom is not an actual bedroom but more an area closed off by a soft screen that struggles to close. We have fed this back to the owners but yeah a bit misleading. Besides that, it’s a great place to stay with an awesome large backyard.

Matapouri Magic certainly lives up to the name a quick walk to one of the most beautiful beaches in the north and the general store . The Bach itself was clean and tidy and provided us with all the essentials needed for a great holiday perfect for entertaining our large family. The spacious outdoor area allowed us to play a range of out door games and activities. Highly recommend .

Having two separate dwellings with their own kitchen/showers worked well for our big group

Tidy with plenty of kitchen equipment, a large fridge and freezer. Beds were made up for couples and our group included singles. Having the substantial service fee added after booking was disappointing. It was excessive for the minimal laundry provided.

Glorious experience!

The dwellings and surrounds are lovely, relaxing, pretty, large lovely garden area and two sets of French doors.. The best is the birds with a resident tui, the astounding coastline and bush with Matapouri Bay a few 100 ms away.
