We were beyond happy during our 4 days stay at the Balgownie when we were celebrating our wedding. The staff is fantastic and is the driver of all of our positive experience. The property is located ~1hr outside of Melbourne - we are from out of town and first time visiting here. Area is very quiet and a great getaway from the city. We had a group booking with ~10 rooms and the staff took care of each one of us during our stay. The staff is friendly, professional, and accommodating of our group - often recommending arrangements that would improve our experience proactively. We had the opportunity to use one of the group rooms as well for an event and it was very well catered. Food is fantastic but wish the portion is slightly smaller so we don't waste so much food! Property is in a modern condition, very clean and I thought was quite family friendly too. I particularly enjoyed the aesthetics of the hotel which combined modern design with some retro style - all worked well together. If you are looking for a weekend getaway or somewhere to visit near Melbourne, I highly recommend staying at Balgownie to make a special experience!

We had a nice stay at Balgownie. We were treated to a complementary wine tasting, the grounds were very nice, the breakfast was excellent and the room (admittedly, we chose the “standard” room) was adequate. The gym was untidy, the AC didn’t work in the gym (nor did the Wi-Fi) and it’s a small gym/pool area. It’s a nice location for exploring the area.

The most perfect place to relax! I was very happy with my 2 night stay. Staff are friendly, the room was clean (with a great shower) and very spacious, and the balcony was great to have a wine in the sun. The free wine tasting in the afternoon was also a nice little bonus (Jenny is soo fun). My only real issue is the pool/gym area is quite small but thankfully wasn’t busy, and the car park gets full. The restaurant on site was a great vibe and excellent food (bit pricey but the Wagyu was worth it). I would happily stay again!

Booked 10 days before New Years Eve and discussed at length the options for dining given there was a function on that night. The function was booked out so we booked in the restaurant only to be told at lunch time on NYE that the restaurant wouldn’t be serving dinner that night and the only option was to eat in our room. Given the short notice we could not book anywhere else. Very untidy around the property grounds. Maintenance has not been kept up. Has deteriorated considerably since our previous stay.
