If you're after a clean bed and cheap option - this is perfect. There is no parking, the doors don't automatically lock, the mould is pretty deadly, and everything is breaking down. I don't think I'll be back

The bedsite light did not work and I mentioned this to the young man on Sunday morning but nothing was done about it. Another lady on Saturday also complained that it wasn't working in her room. This is a very dangerous situation as it is very dark and having to stumble to the bathroom in the night could be catastrophic. I hope the guy realises the implications of an accident.

The staff was not helpful, rude actually. I drove all the way from Adelaide, when I checked in he did not give me a parking card at first. Please note that there is no parking space beside the hotel. We have to use Wilsons parking on Flinders street. When I asked for the parking space, the receptionist reluctantly gave me a Wilson parking card, which did not work when I went to the parking. Since I checked in late, I could not inform the receptionist about the parking card that day. Next day when I talked to the receptionist about that parking card not working, he told me the instructions of using the car park are written on a board at the wall beside him. I told him I did read them and they do not help as the card does not work. He told me to call the Wilson parking. Note that the the card was from Wilson and the City Square Motel name was on it. And I did talked to the Wilson employee at the parking gate and he told me I need 2 cards, one for entrance and one for exit. I only had one card which said that it is to be used when exiting. I ended up paying for the parking which was 111 AUD, I checked in around 5:30 pm and checked out at 10 am the next day.

Property was very dirty and unkept. Dusty and grimy everywhere in closing high touch surfaces like TV remote. There was no daily housekeeping. My bedding was not changed or room cleaned over a week stay. Front desk was helpful to get new towels but not really much else. I knew it was a bargain motel when I booked it, but I would not stay again for how dirty it was.

The entrance to reception was filthy. The lifts didn't work properly, the lights in the hallways were either not working or flickering. The rooms were dusty. We had booked 2 rooms and had the rooms split on different floors. The door locks were dodgy. The whole place felt like a death trap. We walked out, handed back the keys after asking for refund which obviously the declined. We ended up staying at the Victoria Hotel around the corner. It was clean, safe and the staff were incredile.

This motel was sufficient for a solo traveller on a short stay. The motel is close to everything in the city - a tram stop is situated right outside the entrance, and sights within walking distance. Noise level is quite high due to its proximity to trams, streets, and construction sites. Utilities are basic - a kettle, toaster, microwave and mini fridge. However, more cutlery and plating would be better, as well as dishwashing liquid. The TV in the room includes free TV services, not streaming platforms, which is okay. Service could be improved upon, such as the staff knowing about local places, transport and providing guests with Melbourne brochures. I did not enjoy the fact that both elevators were broken the day I was checking out, meaning I had to carry my suitcase down 6 levels, 6 flights of stairs. Elevators must be urgently fixed if the motel wants to remain accessible for all guests.
Bedding, couch, coffee table, nightstand with working lamp. Complimentary hygiene products. Chain lock on door for security.

Would not recommend and I only leave this review to help others who are looking for a nice stay, and also so this motel can better its conditions for guests. It was plain dirty. There was dirt and grime around all bathroom shower toilet basin etc. the bathroom sink was coming looks from the wall which is quite dangerous. Mould around shower edges and bathroom sink. Dirty carpets in some spots. There was a dirty glass in the fridge. Only one tiny milk for two guests which meant only one of us got a morning coffee:(. The shower head was not adjustable and blasts out in one stream onto you like a jet hose- quite uncomfortable! One pillow on the bed had white yuck on it that looked like someone’s bodily fluid - we believe it was that. The whole motel was so tiny and stuffy like really warm and wet feeling. There was also two leaks in the roof which we popped the rubbish bin under and by morning it had filled over a litre of water. The air conditioning was leaking too which filled another container. Staff were quite short in speech not welcoming. Please fix the place up guys
