Charming and quiet

We like staying at the Malaga Inn because it’s walking distance to venues yet tucked away and quiet. It’s been there awhile but has an ops world charm. Definitely will stay there again.

A period hotel built during the Civil War (which seems a brave business choice!) and has hosted celebrities including Elvis Presley and Ronald Reagan. The hotel is beautifully set out around a courtyard. I'm not sure that there is an elevator, so there may be challenges for people with disabilities or difficulties lifting luggage. When I checked in, reception was being covered by the maintenance man but he was very helpful.

10/10 do not recommend. The front desk receptionist checked us in, in between twitches from whatever she was on, the elevator was broken, there weren’t enough towels in the room, (king suite), for 2 people, & there was one remote between the 2 TV’s in the room & it didn’t work for either of them. When asked, bc the TV in the bedroom of the suite was so loud we couldn’t even carry on a conversation & there was no way to turn it down or off, the receptionist shrugged her shoulders & told us that she didn’t know how to fix the TV’s, she would try to get in touch w someone that did, but basically we were out of luck & she left. After 30 minutes we told her we’d like a refund, she accused us of taking one of the remotes, (there were never 2 in the room & I had told her that when I called regarding the tv to begin with), basically unplugged the tv, & told us that’s all she could do. All the while, clearly on something & unable to fully put a sentence together. They are no refusing a refund bc they didn’t break any policies. 2 TV’s, neither works. A receptionist that is clearly geeked out. Broken elevator. No towels in the room. Being accused of stealing a remote you inquired about as soon as you got in the room but the receptionist is strung o it & doesn’t remember.

We have stayed at this property several times over the past few years a loved it however this time not so much. Our original room only had a portable AC unit that did not seem to be properly installed an the door to the room did not shut properly, a few of the pillows under the pillow cases was stained an dirty an the furniture was sticky an dirty .Just poor housekeeping. Maintenance guy super nice an moved us to another room which AC was much better however very loud when cut off an on so not much sleep , some pillows the same , shower line molded an the furniture an floors dirty also the courtyard looked as if had not been taken care of either . Check in was good the maintenance guy checked us in but check out no one ever showed up after waiting for a while. Just disappointed in such a beautiful place that’s not being taken care of not sure if due to staffing or what maybe the problem but hopefully current issue that gets resolved soon

Needs updating

Uncomfortable beds. One was broken the other slumped in the middle. Front desk was only manned once the entire time we were there (at check in) did see front desk person outside smoking at one point. Decor needs updating. Even if you’re going to have vintage decor, it needs to be in better shape than what they had in our room. I stayed there once before and the service and room was much better.

This is an absolutely beautiful place to stay. We stayed for 2 nights. The only thing I found was that the beds could be a little more comfortable, and there needs to be a trash can in the bathroom area not just in the room where the beds are. This isn’t a deal breaker though. I will definitely be staying here again. Don’t miss out on staying at a place that has history and ghost

This historic hotel was within walking distance to restaurants and other areas of interest. Though we did not experience any spirits, we liked the fact that it had a history of being haunted. We enjoyed our stay.
