The hotel is very old and they are doing some remodeling, however our room had dust and dirt hanging from vent, bathroom was tiny and rust was everywhere. There was an area of mold over bathroom door. Insufficient lightening. Hot and cold water in shower was plummet backwards.

Very friendly kitchen staff but poor room cleaning, no towels, no shampoo or conditioner, sticky floors, bed sheets were never changed and were very dutty with ugly stains on them. NEVER COMING BACK TO THIS HOTEL!

We arrived 3 hours after checkin and the room we were assigned was a mess. Full of trash empty food boxes and not clean. We were told we could wait for a room to be cleaned. Our bathroom smelled like pee and was not updated like the rest of the room.

We decided on the Best Western due to the reviews and close proximity too the beach. We arrived at check in at 3:00 greated by the very friendly front desk clerk. Our stay was from Thursday to Sunday 2 rooms 5 adults and 3 children. Room one was not finished beds made but pillows at foot of beds and no towels in the room. Room two beds made pillows at foot of beds , 1 towel in room 1/4 roll toilet paper. We brought our stuff in and hung out on the beds for a little while. It appeared housekeeping was still finishing up the rooms down the way. I asked for towels for both rooms and she handed me one towel and motioned to our pillows. Changed our pillow cases and gave us back our pillows. Thought it was odd but we went on with our night. When we got back from dinner there were still no towels in our second room. So we asked the front desk for 5 towels for the rooms. They seemed very off put that we asked. This continued through the weekend. Housekeeping would take our towels and we would have to ask for new ones. Then Sunday morning at 1:39 a.m. our smoke alarm goes off in our room and water starts leaking out of the outlet. Called the front desk the young man came to our room brought us towels to clean up.

Nice for a quick overnighter.

The location is walking distance to the ocean. It's away from the business of Seaside and Monterey. The rooms have walls that are paper thin. You can hear your neighbors. The breakfast was nice. The clean up was slow. The garbage can was overflowing.

Location, location, location! Right down the street from a wonderful beach, great to watch a sunset. Very comfortable bed. Breakfast was good, many options. I will definitely stay here again next time I visit Monterey!
