The staff here were extremely kind and helpful, and even provide guests with some discounts for certain restaurants. We felt the value for the room was good, the room was tidy and well kept. The location is great as everything is in walking distance, but it is definitely a little further away than most of the other accomodations options. The biggest downside is that the hotel is above an automotive garage. As we were there during the work week it was incredibly loud early in the morning.

A short walk from the Monterosso train station up Via Roma. The owner and host Andrea is absolutely eager to help us with anything with the stay. He even provided a PDF file with links to local eateries with discounts, hiking trails between the five towns etc. there is a laundry, grocery market and nice breakfast restaurant very close to the hotel. The room itself was just ok since we are in a small old town.

Would stay again.

I think this place is a real gem. Everybody here gives top notch service. The hotel is near the end of Monterosso but it is great value. Especially appreciated the electric kettle in the room.

Clean rooms, good location to town, a bit noisy, owner did a magnificent job of creating an interactive handout of essential local information. It was very useful. Perfect if you plan to be out and just need a place to sleep but bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper.

Excellent stay, Andrea goes above and beyond to welcome you. The info and PDF with links to local info, transport, places to eat etc., and directions to find him was great and really useful. Room had all you needed, fridge, kettle, comfy bed, washing line outside the window, which I didn't expect and really useful when you're interrailing for a month. Monterosso is fab, I will return and stay with Andrea again. Recommend 110%, even had a hug when we left after 3 nights.

Andrea was a wonderful host! He was always available during my stay, gave me a warm welcome, and shared very helpful information about both the hotel and the town. He even accompanied me to my room. The room itself was excellent — very clean, quiet, and well-equipped with everything I needed. The location couldn’t be better: just a 2-minute walk to the beach, with shops and restaurants only steps away. I highly recommend this place!

Fantastic

Such a fantastic stay. The hotel is very clean. There is also a clothes rack that hangs out the window which is nice if you want to use. The staff is super helpful. They gave info on Cinque Terre and also provide so many useful things for free; beach towel, there were beach umbrellas, charging cables. I didn’t realize when I booked that this was an eco-hotel, which meant we got discounted tickets for the train and hiking trails. Would definitely recommend to stay here. Good location too.

Unbeatable Service and Friendliness

We stayed July 13-16, 2025 and we were delighted with the service and friendliness of ALL the staff- they were like a second family. Andrea was very helpful, and accommodating and friendly. Let us have a choice of rooms, and made himself available at any hour. The room was nice, clean and big. The bathroom was also nice with the biggest and best shower of any place we stayed during our 2 weeks in Italy. Very easy to access from the parking garages, quiet, clean and comfortable for a wonderful experience. If I ever make it back to the Cinque Terre I will definitely stay at Albergo Al Carugio again.

Great location and super helpful host, Andrea. Andrea was very helpful with giving me all the necessary information and made my stay very comfortable. Very convenient location close to all the restaurants, trail hikes, and even a laundry , pharmacy and market! The only suggestion would be to blacken out a window which lets alot of street lighting in in the night. All in all, great value and comfortable!

Wow what a stay. Not sure why it’s classified as a 1 star. Andrea was an amazing host at this quaint little hotel. He goes out of his way to go through all details of the area and had recommendations for dining and things to do. The rooms are immaculately clean. I would highly recommend to anyone. Andrea the host is very friendly and helpful. He helped us connect to Wifi right at check-in and showed us his files for information on dining, hiking, the train schedule. He even helped us get our hiking permits to use the trail to Vernassa which was harder than we expected since it was wet after the recent rains. So much to enjoy in Monterosso. Our room had a fridge and a tea kettle which was great. Bed was super comfy and Andrea made sure I had extra pillows that I requested in my reservation. I would recommend Albergo de Carugio 100%. Only consideration is you must climb some steps to get to the Albergo so if you are mobility limited, it might be a bit of a problem, but otherwise we were very happy here for our 3 night stay. Very easy walk to the train station.
