Got the room option with private bathroom very basic but good for what we needed. Felt safe and it was super convenient to everything. Hostel vibes with friendly staff and a restaurant right next door. If you want a place to rest your head between adventures this is it.

I stayed two nights in a private room, the ladies on reception were so friendly and helpful with helping book my activities, they’ve really created a welcoming and chilled vibe. The kitchen and outdoor area is lovely. There’s everything you need both in the property and nearby. It was very chilly at night but was provided with extra blankets, the strong wind was a little noisy with plants hitting my window but I didn’t mind and always take earplugs in case of outside noise. It was super clean. Bed was comfortable. I think for a hostel and budget stay it’s a great.

I had a lovely stay here for two nights. The dorm is huge and very comfortable. The common areas are clean and well kept. I would totally recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a quite and cozy hostel!

I stayed in a private room, which was very nice and spacious. The bed was very comfortable, and having my own bathroom was a big plus. The water pressure in the shower was quite weak, but on the positive side, this was one of the few hostels I stayed in that had warm water. Nights in Monteverde can get quite cold, so I asked for an extra blanket for the second night, which was provided without any issue. The hostel is in an excellent location, making it easy to get around. Breakfast at the restaurant next door (with a 10% discount for guests of OutBox Inn) was also very good and definitely worth it. The only downside for me was the atmosphere. I had expected a slightly more social vibe, but it felt like most people preferred to keep to themselves. Of course, that’s not necessarily a bad thing, but I was hoping for a bit more interaction with other travelers.

Outbox Inn is very reasonable, clean and very convenient. Lots of shopping and restaurants are just a few steps away. We loved the restaurant next door which gives a discount to people staying at Outbox Inn. Everyone was super friendly and eager to help us. We highly recommend.

Nice place, great staff and very organized. The lobby and common areas are really nice. Pretty loud at night with music from the bar across the street and the howler monkeys in the morning. Would recommend bringing ear plugs.

Ideal location, clean, comfortable, with incredibly helpful staff (shoutout to Alex for answering a million questions and giving us the best recs). Common area is chill with a beautiful kitchen/balcony facing out into the jungle. Beds were super comfortable and felt like sleeping on your own personal stage.

Unfortunately we did not enjoy our stay or the area. Our room was one of the private rooms, it looked a lot better in the photos. The room itself smelt of mould, and was covered by a sweet fragrance dispenser which made it 10 times worse. The floors where dirty and the bed have you a cold sweat. The only window pointed onto the builders shed, who walked past continuously throughout the day. The service was good, they booked us transport from our pickup point but this transport was dangerous and unacceptable. The man drove unsafe, did not give us our change and when asked in Spanish by the hostel, he said he did not have change after we just gave him 120 USD. We would not return to montverde or this hostel again unfortunately. The food they offer in the restaurant is fab and they have a car who lounges around who is equally as nice!

Pour ce court passage à Monteverde, nous avons choisi une chambre privée qui était très propre, avec une salle de bain complète et privée et un lit vraiment très confortable! L'accueil à été génial. L'ambiance est plutôt calme et axé sur de belles habitudes de vie saine. Le café/ restaurant adjacent est vraiment délicieux!! Une fois stationné, tout est accessible à pied. Notez que la ville de santa- Elena est en montagne.

Staff and ownership were super helpful and accommodating. Would definitely stay here again next time I’m in Santa Elena. Seems like a family/privately run business, and they’re putting in the work to develop a great hostel. Support them, and they’ll keep making their establishment better!
