Not only stairs to get to any room you book but there are stairs to the lobby. There is no bell service either. When booking it doesn't say you can’t avoid the stairs. We chose this hotel over another considering the free breakfast. It’s crap, so don’t bother. Boiled eggs, terrible bagged bagels, package croissants and canned fruit. Carpets in the room are stained and dirty, bathroom has mold. Cannot believe this place is expensive.

The air conditioner was central, therefore, i was unable to control the temperature of the room. It was warmer than expected, i had difficulty sleeping at night. We did not like the first room given to us in the third floor. The window of the room was looking at another wall and the room its already small. I felt a little bit claustrophobic. We got a new room in the fourth floor looking at the main street and it felt better. There is no elevator, we had to bring our things up. I am not sure this is a VIP experience. I was disappointed and I am in general an easy customer to please.

Our room was in the basement and we heard constant creaking from people walking around. Extremely annoying especially at 6am! Had I know it was like this i obviously would have booked elsewhere. Unfortunately, this hotel did not deliver. Although it looks pretty on the outside, inside it’s cramped, dark and stuffy. Our room was one floor above the reception, yet the windows were at eye level with the dark tunnel that ran beside it. The plumbing was so loud in the hotel that we got very little sleep because every time someone turned on their tap or flushed the toilet, it felt like a train was running through the room. The building is old and although there are some attempts made to make it look antique and whimsical, it needs major work to make it acceptable. $200+ a night is much too much money for a place you dread going back to at the end of a busy day. The only redeeming feature of the hotel was its proximity to many places of interest. The breakfast was basic and underwhelming.

Charming and Convenient!

Everyone was friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. The room was clean and tidy. The breakfast was simple--fruit, bagels, croissants, eggs--but filling and fresh. The only downside was the a/c. It was a challenge to get it the right temp, though that might just be me. It was the perfect location--minutes walk to the metro, restaurants, and the Fine Arts Museum. It's definitely a convenient, charming hotel, and one we will likely revisit.

I got the deluxe double queen, room was pretty big and clean. The ONLY gripe I had was that there was no way to control the AC. It was cool enough to sleep for sure, but I prefer the room a bit cooler when I sleep. I will say for Expedia silver and up members, there were no perks that I received for this stay. Overall great hotel and would stay here again. For those with mobility challenges there is no elevator, only stairs. Amazing location.

Staff was incredibly helpful! Be careful when you arrive as my gps told me I was there when there was about another block and a right i needed to take! Called the hotel and the lovely gentleman came outside to find me and stayed with me until I was ready to go inside. Truly made the experience! The artwork that I was able to see was beautiful! And a lot of history facts about the building, very nifty!

Nice location.

Beautiful rustic charm. Very old maintained interior design. Only problem was with shower head that's just old and terrible. And no elevator so you might have to go up a few steps if on the fourth floor so be warned.

This is an old building, pay for parking, no elevator, we were assigned to the 4th floor each floor is between 15 to 20 steps each floors ,rooms are too small and between luggage, back , shoulder pain and age.. this is not what i am expecting. I really want to leave but they made me wait until its too late. So disappointed.
