I truly enjoyed my stay. The hotel was inexpensive yet had a feel of a very luxurious place. Nicely clad and polite staff, beautiful room, great linen. They even had a sewing kit and shoe polish in the bathroom. I haven't seen that in decades. The only letdown was the breakfast. We decided to spent the money as the breakfast was pictured nicely. But when we got there at 10 almost all the tureens were empty and the restaurant was not crowded. There were no baked goods and I was really looking forward to the croissants. What a disappointment. They were filling the tureens but at a very slow pace and always with very small amounts. People kept asking where the food is. One person got into argument with the chef over the bread selections. The selection of bread and pastry was very limited. If it's a paid breakfast the guest shouldn't be made to wait for all the food like that. I guess you need to come when they first open. Very disappointing.

I want to really like le Cantlie Suites. The staff are excellent. The public areas are excellent. The bedroom was very comfortable, clean and well supplied. However, the kitchen, which was important to my trip, was very inadequate. There were few utensils: one large pot, a kettle, plates and bowls, as well as knives, forks and spoons. But there was no knife or other implements for actually preparing a meal. The appliances were good, except for a decrepit toaster, but the kitchen was under-equipped. Cooking set off the smoke detector, so it's important to be tall, because there are only swivelling office chairs on which to climb to cancel the alarm. If management could renovate the kitchen and properly stock it, this would be a superb hotel.

I always make it a point to stay at this hotel when visiting Montreal. The staff going above and beyond is always what makes it for me, though the vibe of the hotel at large is also immaculate. This time, they let me check in a full FIVE HOURS before check-in time; more or less as soon as housekeeping had finished making it ready after the previous guest left. Definitely coming back here next stay.

We enjoyed the city. Luckily there was plenty to do in town and the hotel really did not factor into our visit. However there are things a hotel of this scale should have in place. There was no water in the room. Mini kitchen with no dish soap or pad. Very unpractical. Everything seemed out dated. The on site restaurant needs help; breakfast was menu /bar over priced. The room we had we obviously vacant for some time. The TV cable and power was disconnected. The breaker had to be reset for the microwave and the staff seemed to be living or working out of in a room next to ours with no numbers. Noisy. So many nice hotels in the area and it shows management needs to make some changes.
