This place is ok for a one night stay, and the cost is good so you get what you pay for. The cons are the hallway of the hotel smelt weirdly like febreeze mixed with poop. The washroom also had a weird smell. They also sent a message on Expedia telling us that valet service was available. We couldn’t find it and ended up finding another lot close by. When we got to the hotel there was a sign on their reception desk that said that valet parking is unavailable so that communication was confusing.

Great stay

The hotel staff was very friendly, and the location was great. The room was very comfortable and clean. It was beyond my expectation. The parking was not a big issue, the staff directed us to a nearby underground parking lot, which had reasonable pricing.

I always enjoy Hotel Zero 1. It’s my go to hotel when visiting Montreal. It’s perfectly located near Chinatown for inexpensive Asian food, walkable to the gay village, and walkable to Old Montreal. If you book the corner queen rooms you’ll be happy with the room layout and how quiet they are. My only issue this trip was the air conditioning. It was way too high and never shut off. The room was freezing. I did ask the front desk to turn it down, which they did for about 5 hours before it switched back on - a minor problem. I was also supposed to receive a VIP reward of money credited towards parking, but the hotel was not offering its usual parking service, so I had to pay for a nearby garage. The hotel said the credit was an Expedia offer and not theirs so there wasn’t anything they could do about it. Again a minor issue. Overall I’ll definitely be back.

The service and property were absolutely terrible. Arrived at the room and there were dark brown stains on the bed frame and ottoman. Mould in the washroom on the grout, and hair on the bed. Dead bugs on the ground and stains on the blinds. Went to reception to request a refund so we could check out immediately, explaining we were there for mourning and did not want to stay there due to the poor condition. The manager argued and rebutted the condition of the room, stating she couldn’t do anything but change the room. The new room was larger, but still had dead insects, and dirty curtains, hair on the mattress and stains in the toilet. We offered to pay for the first night, requesting a refund for the rest. However no remorse, accountability or empathy was shown at all for the state of the property. It’s located in a rough area, tents are set up outside and people clearly under the influence of substances are camped out right outside. Absolutely disgusting.

The room and the common area are both super clean. The staff was very friendly. The best part is that you have many food options near Chinatown and downtown Montreal. This hotel is also dog-friendly. The only thing that was inconvenient was that it only had one elevator.

The room was extremely small. Access closet, refrigerator, and amenity sink was cumbersome. Furniture was a low quality. The only positive thing was that the futon mattress was very comfortable.

I wasn't sure what to expect after reading several online reviews, but I can honestly say that our stay at Hotel Zero 1 was pretty good. Our family stayed on the 10th and 11th floors, which had a nice view of the city street below. Rooms weren't super fancy, but they were nice and clean and most importantly well air conditioned on the super hot days that we were staying. Bathroom showers are a bit of a tight fit so if your're a bigger person expect to bump your elbows in the shower a bit. There is only one elevator available for the entire hotel so you'll definitely need to pack your patience, especially if your room is located on the upper floors. Staff were friendly and responded quickly to any requests that we made (If you need your room cleaned, i would advise to make the request to front reception directly. We put a sign out requesting for the room to be cleaned, but when we came back our room was still the same way we left it 😆). The breakfast buffet offered was simple, but good. Breakfast included eggs, sausage/ham, croissant/toast,, assorted cereals and fruits, etc.. The hotel is within walking distance to many different sightseeing sites, shopping areas, restaurants and conveniently right across the street from China Town. All in all, I would stay here again on my next visit.
