Birthday stay at the Chedi

Positives: - beautiful exterior of the hotel - range of pool options - excellent well equipped extensive gym - wonderful housekeeping Negatives: - rooms felt small and quite pokey/dated - lack of drying space in rooms for towels/swimwear - food was expensive and not the best (maybe 6/10) - summer maintenance saw one pool closed whilst we visited and limited food options available (it would have been good to know this in advance)

Absolutely Fabulous!

Everything is perfect at the Chedi. The food was excellent, the hotel grounds and facilities are outstanding and the staff were well trained, very professional and helpful. Will definitely be staying at Chedi Muscat again!

Sorely Disappointed

Don't be fooled by the brand name, this hotel is not worth the price. We stayed at 3 hotels (Al Bustan Palace @ Ritz Carlton, Shangri-La and The Chedi) and this was the worst of the lot as well as being the most expensive. It is in the middle of nowehere so you are stuck in the hotel and unlike other hotels, there is no shuttle service to the souk or anywhere else. It is near the airport so you get noise from the airplanes and the beach looks like an oil spill dump, you could not really swim in it. I was shocked when I saw all the deck chairs turned away from the beach to face the buildings, it was that bad. Everything is also over-priced and the transport cost they charged to get to the Shangri-La would be enough to take me to Nizwa on a normal taxi. The quality of the breakfast buffet was average and not as good as the other hotels. We were told that the Long Pool closes at 9pm but in the middle of our swim around 7.30pm, another attendant told us to get out because the pool had closed at 6.30pm. Unbelievable!

Les installations extérieures notamment la long pool sont uniques. En revanche la Serai Room est indigne d’un hôtel comme le Chedi : petite, obscure et mal agencée. Sans compter qu’elle est vieillotte et tout fait “sale” à l’intérieur. Inacceptable lorsque l’on pratique de tels niveaux de prix.
