What a lovely hotel. This is the first hotel in Pictou and it is gorgeous. The entire hotel is gorgeous, our room was wonderful and the breakfast was nice. The only downsize is that there is no elevator so it was alot of steps to get to the first floor room.

A Perfect Seaside Stay with Old World Charm
We had the absolute pleasure of staying at this charming boutique hotel nestled in a beautiful historical home nearly a century old. From the moment we arrived, we were swept away by the old English character that runs through every detail of the house: beautiful vintage décor, wood floors, and an unmistakable sense of timeless elegance.
Our room was adorable, spotless, and full of personality. We were especially lucky to have a corner unit that offered breathtaking views of both the sea and the surrounding forest—a truly rare treat. Waking up to the sound of waves and birdsong was something special.
The host and owner was incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to make us feel at home. They offered excellent recommendations for local restaurants.
This place is a hidden gem, perfect for anyone who appreciates the beauty of historical buildings, thoughtful hospitality, and that unmistakable old English charm. We’re already dreaming of our next visit.
Highly recommended!
Property was not as advertised, run down, staff was not personable, or available, lack of hot water, continental breakfast was less than basic, we could not wait to leave.
Very quaint and beautiful. Old but nicely kept by the owners, clean, comfortable, quiet. Excellent continental breakfast, I would definitely go back. Some wildlife on the Inn’s grounds

Charming old hotel with some updates to the rooms. We were on the 2nd of 3 floors. There is virtually no sound proofing between floors.

It did not have an elevator for the luggage
Two flights of stairs
The host was nice enough to help take the luggage up
The place was quiet and clean. Staff was very polite and helpful. The real problem was the bed. The mattress was hard and the box spring groaned very loudly every time one of us moved. Bed needs to be replaced in room 10. We did not get a very good sleep.
Very nice inn. The staffs are very friendly and resourceful. The inn is close to most restaurants in the town. And, Princess Anne visited and stayed here in 1991 honoring the arrival of the Ship Hector from Scotland to the Port of Pictou in 1773.
The property has SO much untapped potential. The view of the bay is beautiful. However, the decor is outdated. The breakfast was grocery store loaf bread, a bowl of fruit that was mostly grapes, and boxed cereal that had been dumped into containers. Also, the best feature of this hotel is the view; however, in the dining area two of the windows that should be looking over the bay have been boarded up. Also, not everyone drinks coffee--there should be some tea bags available for the tea drinkers.
The owner and her son were very available and friendly. At our 7 pm check in we were asked if we planned to go to a restaurant for dinner because the nearby restaurants closed at 8 pm. With that information we decided to defer carrying suitcases to our room until after dinner. Note that there isn't an elevator in this historic building and all bedrooms are upstairs. The breakfast had good variety including boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit and cereal. Gluten free granola and toast were available on request.
Appreciated the quiet and an interesting historic building. Could walk to town quite easily. Keep in mind you'll be asked to pay up front, which isn't usual in my hotel experience. There are religious/biblical quotes throughout common spaces, and the rules are quite strict.
I can’t put into words what a wonderful experience our night at The Braeside Inn was. The Innkeepers were extremely friendly, the ambience was exceptional, the room was spotless. The property has been maintained very well. The breakfast was enjoyable. I cannot find the words to recommend The Braeside Inn to the level it deserves.
