The hotel was very nice and clean. The elevators however, were really slow but they did look old so that wasn't a huge issue. I loved the overall look of the hotel. The lighting to me felt intimate. It was not to bright but perfect in my opinion.

The front desk took my credit card for “incidentals” when I checked in. The lady then proceeded to bill me for a full night, even though I had already paid through hotels.com. I have called multiple times to get the issue corrected and have not been called back, or have been left on hold indefinitely. I will now be disputing this charge through my credit card. Terrible customer service and inept employees at the front desk. Avoid this hotel unless you enjoy double paying for your stay.

I booked a stay at the Marriott Trumbull in Shelton, Connecticut, and let me just say… this is not Marriott standards. I checked in late Thursday night, November 13, after a long flight. I was exhausted and ready to knock out, but the moment I lay down, the bed hit me back. All I felt were springs and coils with a deep sunken hole in the mattress. It was rough. From the bed to the room itself, nothing about it felt like Marriott quality. I was too tired to put up a fuss, so I dealt with it, but I got zero sleep that night. Mind you, I was in town for my uncle’s funeral, so rest really mattered. On Friday, I mentioned the issue to the front desk, and to their credit, the staff was friendly and moved me to another room. The bed was a little better, but then I found hair in the shower — and trust me, it wasn’t mine. The first room also had a grimy ring around the faucet, and I still can’t believe tubs like that are in circulation. The whole place just looks rundown and dated. Definitely giving motel vibes. Once you notice one thing, you notice everything. The elevator area on the third floor was dirty. Carpet everywhere, dingy bed skirt in Room 367, that fabric sofa that has CLEARLY seen better days… it was giving “absolutely not.” The staff was nice enough and did what they could, but the property itself needs a serious overhaul. Nothing about this hotel reflects Marriott’s usual standard of comfort and cleanliness. I stay at Marriott often and this is the last time

Also hotel rooms and hallways are very neglected it is obvious from water stains, buckling carpet mold, etc., that the only updates done over 30 + years is the lobby and 1st floor

Horrible! I booked a double room, was told there was no doubles at check in and was force to squeeze into a king bed with 3 people while someone slept on a smelly dirty cot. The best part, I was charged for both rooms due to their own mistake. I never write reviews but this hotel was absolutely horrible. Dirty rooms, very disrespectful staff, and does not provide a service they promise when you pay.

Room was dirty. Bathroom had hair and excrement in the corner. Dirty, stained washcloth behind the door. Only 1 clean washcloth. 1 towel. Front desk was not helpful. Breakfast hostess was rude. I won’t be staying at this Marriott - or recommend it it to others - ever again.
