The Sonder property was a descent stay but probably would not be going back. The room had not been cleaned very well. There were items left from people who previously had stayed. We had a leak in master bath. Had to wait for maintenance to come because they did not have a safe in the room so didn’t feel comfortable allowing others in there while we were out. The “fix” for the leak was to caulk the area. This made it worse and by the next morning there was a lot more water all over master bath floor. Then the AC went out and it was extremely hot to sleep. Although they did allow us to switch room, it was an inconvenience to switch and give up time during our vacation to re pack. Move and unpack again. The bar was also not always open when it was supposed to be. The pool did not seem very clean the first couple of days and the was closed on our last day there when we had planned on laying out. Overall the stay was “ok” but would not go back there for another visit

The location was fantastic. The exposed brick inside asded to the charm of the old city. Having a washer and dryer was a bonus and very appreciated especially on a rainy day. The flooring is wood which is uneven and has big gaps that collect dirt. The rug in the living area was rather dirty and stained. The exposed shelving in the kitchen where the dishes were kept was dusty.

NOLA indoor rain shower

First impressions were that this an ok place. The pictures made the place look nicer than it actually was. The first night went ok. The next day, however we didn't fair so well. We were out for the day, and as New Orleans tends to have we had rain storm. Upon arriving at the hotel, we found the roof leaking all over our luggage and stuff that was in our bedroom. Of course, my husband called the number given, because there was no one on site, and no one was available, so the best they could do was to get us some extra towels to soak up the water. He then sent an email and was told they were sorry for the inconvenience, but nothing could be done. They emailed back asking for pictures, those were sent. Never heard anything for hours. We tried again to contact them by phone and was told that someone would come check on it within 16 hours. Someone did arrive after a 3rd phone call. She took pictures and brought us more towels. Our only options were to deal with it or find our own alternate place to stay, out of own pockets. We asked if we would receive any compensation for our trouble and we never heard from them again. This was the worst experience we have ever had at any hotel!

We travel with children and like the space, kitchen laundry and privacy we get at Sonders when we travel, especially for road trips. But this one was a dud. Our unit 401 had a strong mildew odor from the start. It started raining heavily our first day and we got a lot of leaks. Through windows, over electrical boxes. The kitchen looked cute, but didn’t have basic supplies like a pan. I took video of the leaks, but Sonders chat didn’t provide a way to submit it. Based on the smell and how much it rains there, there is no way they didn’t already know. I also found it strange that there was no interest in comping a day or crediting another stay. It just felt like a ‘sucks for you’ moment. We won’t be staying there again. BUT the Dovetail bar on the first floor made some AMAZING drinks and we got some of our best restaurant recommendations from the bartenders.

This was the perfect place for 3 of us having 3 separate rooms in the French Quarter. It was an older building so there is the usual noise with the wooden floors. My only complaints would be there was some dirty towels left hanging up from the last guest and the elevator could use some maintenance. It had a burning rubber smell.

We were here for a conference and having a 3 bed 2 bath with small kitchen was great! Close enough to bourbon street if that’s your thing, or you can use taxi/shared ride services to go anywhere else.

Unit was clean and comfortable. Beds and pillows comfortable. Bad water pressure out of the sink but good water pressure in the showers. Comes with toiletries and towels to use. Kitchen has everything you need. Area was safe with a lot of restaurants and bars nearby. At the one end of bourbon which was only a 5 min walk away.

3BR apt only had a love seat in living room. Insufficient seating for number of guests. Sheets were stiff and felt like plastic. Bedroom doors squeaking when opened enough to awaken guests when opened. TV kept reverting to screen saver screen during network TV viewing. No luggage storage on site. No drawers to hold clothing. Had to live out suitcases. Stayed at Sonder 21 in Nashville previously, really liked that one.

I just returned from a beautiful trip to New Orleans. Everywhere we went we were shown incredible hospitality. Except by Sonder. We stayed at Sonder The Schaefer, and the experience was deeply disappointing and, frankly, alarming. Our unit had no hand soap or washcloths. The washcloth and hand towels took almost all day to arrive after we requested them. We never received HAND SOAP. The keypad barely worked, forcing us to repeatedly fight with our own front door. A ceiling vent began leaking brown water directly onto the toilet and when I reported it, I was told that no one would inspect it because we were checking out soon. My brother’s room and second bathroom also had an active leak. The elevator smelled like burning rubber so we used the stairs because nothing says “vacation” like avoiding vertical death. The floors were visibly sloped and a cracked structural beam added a layer of dread to an already stressful stay. I was offered a refund for one night. But these issues affected the entire stay. Worse than the bad conditions, though, was the lack of care, or accountability from Sonder. And beyond the guest experience, here’s the larger problem: This is a company taking multi-bedroom apartments that could be homes for families in a city that desperately needs affordable housing and converting them into unattended hotels for tourists. There is no staff on-site. No real support. No concern for the neighborhoods these “aparthotels” exist in.

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE - No employees anywhere - Room filthy - Room not stocked with anything, asked for toiletries/more towels & the chat on the app which is oversees said it will take 24 hours for anything to be delivered… the room wasn’t stocked to begin with! - LOUD BEEPING ALL NIGHT LONG, kept us all awake. - Elevator didn’t work most days - Furniture broken - Microwave broken The worst experience I have ever had in a hotel or whatever dump this place is. Bare bones college dorm experience but the worst cheapest kind. A local tour guide told me it was a crack den and was just recently converted. That made perfect sense. DO NOT STAY HERE.
