Great location and lobby had a fun vibe. However our room was very small, curtain roll up was broken and our view of the city was blocked by scaffolding. Shower head was also a sprayer and could not tilt head down so shower not great.

I was on the sixth floor and the room was extremely quiet, unusual for New York, rather spacious and yet on this particular night, relatively inexpensive for such a perfect location in New York. Don’t miss the Red Farm restaurant around the corner… worth trying even if a bit noisy. My main criticism of the hotel is actually the coffee bar and pastries for breakfast, which are too sweet and caloric for me, and limited to drip coffee if you want to use their free breakfast card. I way prefer crossing Broadway…. On the other side you have two excellent options (Mille Feuille and Pain Quotidian… I slightly favor the latter because they have a much broader range of breakfast options).

Excellent location. Clean and comfortable bed. Lots of street noise overnight, typical in NYC, but pack earplugs if you're a light sleeper. Only provide one towel per guest and it was pulling teeth to get another one. I'd stay here again if it has the best cost in the area.

maybe not the best service

We experienced a breakdown of car towards New York and received a… rather rude responding to my queries. I don’t think it fitting to an “art house” hotel to have phone servicing where a customer is brusquely pushed with (heavily accented) “there is no refund”. A Manhattan longtime former resident, felt quite put off by the treatment by her. Would never want to try this hotel again.

shower had hair in it and when hotel staff came to clean it they tried to explain that it is because the tub is old and scratched up. The shower had rust on the tile which looked like the pipe was rusting underneath and it was coming through. the tub was cracked this was not the appointments of a "four star" hotel. I told the manager what the issues were and she said that she will take of the resort fee of 45 to resolve it. Told her that wasn't adequate bcz this claims to be a 4 star hotel. I want a discount over what I paid for it expedia has it as 254$ a night I paid closer to $500, Help.... Unfortunately Columbia had this place as a suggested hotel for visitors. I wish that they stayed in my room 614 and 601. The cleaning lady said 2 floor are completely remodeled mine was not
