My Go To Hotel

My daughter attends Fordham University, Lincoln Center Campus, so I always stay at the Hotel Empire. I've never had an unpleasant experience.

We arrived at the hotel only to find that the room looked nothing like the photos advertised. The entire space was dirty and had a strong, unpleasant odor. There was visible dust throughout, no fresh bedding, spider webs in the corners, and stains on the walls. The conditions were far below acceptable standards, and the overall experience was very disappointing. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Neither Expedia for misleading advertising of the Hotel and Unhygienic Conditions. Was a matter of health not staying in that room.

The location and staff service at this hotel were top notch! Easy to get around, but not so central that it felt overwhelming. We landed at 7am, and went to the hotel to drop our bags assuming that there wouldn't be a room ready. They got us into a room right away! The cleanliness and condition of the room left something to be desired, but it is an old building and for the price and the location it was well worth it.

Upper West Side Gem

Terrific location right across street from Lincoln Center! Gelateria and Starbucks on one side of front door, nice restaurant, PJ Clarke's on the other.All personnel friendly and helpful, opening doors, storing luggage. Electronic door cards were a problem. Both failed 4 times, meaning someone had to go back down to front desk to have them fixed. Super annoying! Some paint chipped on bathroom door and shower. But will definitely stay here again.

I stayed here for two days and it was convenient to have a rooftop bar and good services close by. The key card did not work most of the trip and had to keep asking for replacements and the AC was not working the whole trip in the room.

Review for The Empire Hotel, New York City I recently stayed at The Empire Hotel, and while the place maintains good hygiene and has a convenient location, my overall experience was disappointing due to the level of service and issues with their partnered parking service. The cleanliness of the rooms and common areas was satisfactory, and that was appreciated. However, the staff barely meets the basic standards of customer service. Friendliness and willingness to assist were minimal, which significantly affected the quality of my stay. The most frustrating part was the parking arrangement. Upon check-in, I was given a slip advertising a discounted parking rate of $54. When I went to retrieve my vehicle, I was informed the actual charge was $150, with a supposed $25 discount. The explanation given was that the $54 rate only applies to very small cars, like Mini Coopers, which feels misleading. I seriously doubt any vehicle actually qualifies for the $54 rate. This experience left me feeling that, while the hotel is clean, it lacks transparency—especially when it comes to important details like parking fees. I don’t think I’ll be staying here again, and I wouldn’t recommend it without warning others about these kinds of practices.

Great common areas, shabby rooms needing attention

This hotel has a great location right beside Lincoln Center and the common areas of the property (lobby and roof top bar) are terrific. However, our room had nothing but problems. For two mornings, no hot water from the shower on two of the mornings of our stay, the bathroom door wouldn’t fully close, the paint was peeling, the blinds were broken, the air conditioning didn’t stay on and the door locks often didn’t work. The property badly needs to take better care and attention to the rooms themselves. In a city with so many great hotel options the really need to up their game.
