Very easy to get to the Staten Island ferry to get to Manhattan. Breakfast was great! Staff were very nice!

We had a nice stay at the hotel. We were there just overnight while traveling to visit friends in New York. The staff was very friendly, and the facility was clean. There were two weddings happening the night we stayed, so the lobby was quite busy. The front desk staff noticed that we were tired from our long drive and kindly offered to find us a room in a quieter section of the hotel. My only suggestion is to create an area for walking dogs, as we were traveling with a small dog and there wasn't anywhere for him to relieve himself.

The location is off the highway and under the flight path of Newark I suspect. Quite noisy. Although a sign read “no smoking”, on the 4th floor smelled some cigarettes. Could have been the smoker themselves since the odor lingers. There seemed to be a lot of “cutting and pasting to appear in better shape than it was. This was most evident in the bathroom. The bed was comfortable but I questioned how clean it was? The carpet didn’t look as though it was vacuumed. I saw a sign in the bathroom something about every other day service which made me question the previous as well. I have to say however the staff was absolutely wonderful from the front desk to the cleaning staff. The staff deserves a much nicer and updated environment in which to work. Customers, a sound buffer. Having worked in retail for over 30 years, the job of working with the public is hard enough. A more pleasant physical environment would help.

The staff was very friendly on arrival. Our suite was on the 3rd floor. When we stepped out of the elevator, the carpet looked so dirty and dusty, and had a big brown stain right by the elevator. Our room looked clean. While the main bedroom area looked more or less renovated, the bathroom was so old and looked yellow with chipped paint. We attempted to take a shower, and when I pressed the shower knob, the faucet parts came out flying from the faucet and the top of the knob came out. Unfortunately, we had to leave and never got to shower. When I went downstairs to check out, I reported to them the problem. There was mention of the apology, they asked for our Hilton Honers account and told me “you are all set to go”. No that I expected them to refund my stay, but a simple i’m sorry for inconvenience would have been enough. No points added on Hilton Honors either. Not going to use them again.

Beautiful hotel, clean, modern. But bad experience with checking in. Receinist stated our rate is $40 more because we wanted to pay cash. He stated that there is no even need to call for manager as this is a hotel policy. I spent morning on chat with Expedia to confirm that it is not. When i came to check out receipt was showing the amount i suppose to pay and not i paid. After explaining situation to rhe assistant manager, who was very polite and professional, her investigating for about 40 minutes, we got the difference back. And she promised to address with employee on where would money go we did not complain.
