Very economical, and you get what you pay for.

This place is very bare-bones with kind of a weird vibe. The mattress was extremely uncomfortable, and the bathroom barely had any room to move around. There were almost no surfaces to put anything. The hot water took forever to get warm. The room was freezing at night, but the included space heater helped. Seemed like a bit of a fire hazard, though. The staff were friendly enough and helpful with getting suitcases up and down the stairs, since there is no elevator.

Fix water and clean better otherwise fine

Definitely they need to work on cleaning better and fix the water heater, but overall this was fine for the price. I felt safe enough as a solo female.

Nice place to be home base when you're out sightseeing and doing museums all day. Lots of restaurants, grocery and drug stores nearby. Subway station one block away. Very convenient for the budget traveler. The room was small, but very clean. We felt safe and could relax there.

Great price and affordable for NYC, however the location was a bit difficult. No elevators in the venue, so those with heavy suitcases or mobility issues may find trouble climbing the stairs.

Old, charming hotel. Bare bones comforts, it felt like a dormitory room. One space heater did not warm both room and bathroom. Bathroom fixtures were temperamental. We went for its location in East Village, easy access from subway and lots of walkable coffee shops and restaurants. Great price.

I was disappointed to find out that this property is CASH ONLY, as it wasn’t clearly mentioned anywhere when I made my reservation. Please make sure to highlight CASH ONLY in capital letters wherever possible. Additionally, inform guests that the property has no elevator and requires navigating many steps, even to access the first floor. This wasn’t an issue for me personally, but it could be a concern for others. I will definitely stay here again. This property provides excellent value for the price.
