Birthday Trip!

Was at the Newport Harbor Island Resort for my birthday trip with friends. David, the manager, was amazing in ensuring we were placed in the beautiful room that we had booked and sending a little birthday surprise for it. My best friend and I loved our stay. The excellent service started with David and rounded around the hotel with the entire valet team (shoutout to our new besties) who took care of us, helped us so much with cars and bags, to the restaurant team at 1889 and the service members at the firepit. We loved it. We would return!

Dear David and the Hotel Management Staff, I am writing to express my disappointment and concern regarding our stay at the Newport Harbor Island Resort. What was meant to be a relaxing and memorable family vacation turned out to be stressful, frustrating, and, at times, deeply upsetting. I hope this message will be taken seriously, and that a formal review and appropriate compensation will be considered as a result. Lack of Orientation and Access to Amenities: Upon arrival, we were given no information whatsoever regarding the resort amenities, services, or even basic hotel features. We were later surprised to learn that the hotel charges a $67 per night resort fee, which supposedly covers services such as the shuttle, bikes, and boat to Bowman’s Wharf which we only found out about on our day of departure or the shuttle on the day we were sent a message it was not running or the bikes after they not being available on serval occasions. Had we been informed at check-in, we would have absolutely taken advantage of these offerings with our children. We also had no idea there was an indoor pool, and again, that’s something our kids would have enjoyed had it been communicated to us. There was a sign about s’mores nightly but we had no idea where they were and when we asked the gentleman in the front said yeah probably happening and somewhere on the lawn. Another advertised amenity my children would have loved to enjoy but we missed. There was no room service menu in our room,

While the hotel was fine, I can’t believe with the price I paid for it, that I then had to pay $35/night parking. I could understand if parking was limited but there was tons. The food and beverage was also not up to the standards set by the very pricey rooms.

I rarely write views. This place had exceptionally bad customer service. The photos on Expedia show that you will get different views based on whether you stay in a Harbor View room or a Water View room. The Harbor View is less expensive. I paid a premium for a Water View room and got a view of boats docked in a harbor and part of the parking lot and concrete roof below. I did not get the view on the Expedia website of broad waves. This alleged “King Water View” room had a single sink, tiny shower, and “broom-closet” sized closet. It was less than a comfortable amount of space for two people. The hotel didn’t sweep the room floor and never replaced the coffee. I tried to ask about the difference in the rooms with the manager. The manager continued to state the room had a water view bc there was water. Yes—but not the Water View for the premium price. When I asked for an explanation of the difference, he didn’t give one. Why advertise one thing and provide something different? This is the most or one of the most expensive hotels there. I was going to extend my stay—but not after that manager and hotel’s behavior. Also, usually a King room includes two sinks. We were constantly bumping into each other. I think this hotel does not fully or accurately represent its accommodations. I would not recommend it to anyone. Rhode Island is beautiful but stay anywhere else.

Property had beautiful views, staff was warm & welcoming. We had a problem with our sliding glass door as it would not lock, but when we called they sent a facilities engineer right away to fix the issue. Patio had seagull droppings as did the cushions.

The grounds were beautiful. Not a 4 star hotel. Very overpriced , drinks and food. Service was subpar. Wouldn’t go back for the money I spent.

We absolutely love this hotel! Got a little confusing at pool on Saturday due to crowds. It got resolved quickly. The shuttle service to town is wonderful! We will be back again!

Loved the out door pool, bar, views, yoga, restaurant and seating area. Used the gym and went for early morning walks. The spa there wouldn’t treat teens under 18 even with adult consent nor with alsulg present ie couples massage but I found Bodhi spa and the were able to accomade the 4 of us (2 adults and 2 teens for a girls bday weekend) and we Enjoyed the water Journey at Bohdi as well
