Food was delicious, employees very friendly, Resort is very clean, shows were fun. Only thing that was disappointing was there was Construction in the one building and you can hear it all day long however, the entertainment staff plays music at the pool so between that and being there you kind of turn it out after a while so that did not make me give this hotel a bad rating they are just trying to improve. Would definitely come back in a heartbeat! After construction of course LOL

The good: -The staff was very accommodating and friendly -beach area was well kept and the beach was great -very cool pool setup and nice pool. The walk up pool bar was great The bad: -we did not get the room that was advertised and how it appeared on the website. It was deceptive in what room we thought we were getting vs what we got. We paid for an ocean view and did not get one how the website portrays it (had a very obstructed view) -the initial room we got had black mold, a very musty smell, and appeared furniture had not been replaced in 30 years (we asked to switch rooms and we were able to, but felt we still did not get what we were paying for. The new room we got looked like it was recently updated and was nicer) -the cafeteria had lots of flies. I didn’t see anything being done to prevent the flies -construction was going on at the resort, so there was a constant sound of a jackhammer from about 9AM-5PM Overall, it’s hard to not have a great time in Aruba and my wife and I had a great time! But just wanted to point out some things that could be improved upon

Property was in a good location but it’s under serious renovations. Jackhammers started each day at 7am. Food was good, pool activity / food was horrible / boring, nothing like what you experience in Rui Mexico. For what I paid I wish I stayed elsewhere.

Room are very outdated. Not the cleanest but the beach area is beautiful. Buffet restaurant doesn’t let you take out food because of “ sanitary” reasons. It would have been nice to go up to my room and eat on my balcony with the ocean view.

I am very understanding of construction and the growing pains that go along with that. I wish at some point I would’ve had advanced notice of this. Using the staff elevator to get to the 8th floor was awful. The food was mediocre, this was my 5th stay there and was the only time the food was disappointing. Again, could be to the construction , but for the price, I feel slightly cheated as compared to previous stays there.

It is horrible that neither riu or Expedia decided to share that there was construction going on at the riu. I am very upset and felt that my vacation was a true waste of time and money. 4 nights straight I couldn’t sleep because the AC was not working. I also was hearing watering running through the walls some how. I was on the eighth floor of a building only the service elevator would get to this floor so I got to ride with all the room service and laundry all the time and it was 100 degree in that elevator and where we waited for it was filthy for days!! Construction would start 6am to 6pm and you couldn’t even hear your self speak to anyone. Bar tender couldn’t even hear the orders at the pool. I am disappointed with both Riu and Expedia and believe I should Complain for a refund due to the lack of communication and lack of relaxation.

No swim attire allowed when getting breakfast or lunch was annoying. Pools in great need of update. Some of the tiles were black. Chairs in the pool were dirty. The kayak and paddle boarding that was advertised as free with the booking was never available. The staff managing this was very rude when we inquired about using it. Beds were hard. Overall, hotel needs updating. Maria in the dining hall was excellent. She provided great customer service. The front desk attendant at check out was very short and rude. Didn't provide a feeling that would make me want to come back.

There was construction being done on one entire side of the riu all you heard all day long was construction and jackhammers the elevators didnt work so we had to take staff elevators which took extremely long 20 mins each time and our original room was absolutely filled with mold and blood on the sheets. They changed and accommodated us with a different room that then had the air conditioning not work n had to call for two days straight to get someone to fix it.

We enjoyed our stay for the most part. There was a lot of construction noise all day every day. Also, the beachfront restaurant was closed down, and I had really been looking forward to that. There was no notification prior to our trip that this construction was happening. Would probably stay somewhere else next time.

The experience would have been better if we were told ahead of time about the construction which was non-stop from 8-6 making It impossible to relax even on the beach or pool. When we asked about It at the front desk we were told It wasnt happening on the weekends but It was! Very disappointing.

This was my 6th time at this resort and by far the worse. Half the hotel under construction jack hammering all day long. The first room I was given I wouldn't take it; the second room was a little better. Dirty a/c vents cracked tiles when we would unplug something from the wall the cover plate would fall off showing bare electrical terminals. Then the elevator stopped working my last three days there. either walk up 4 flights or take the small service elevator with other guests and service staff, maintenance people dirty laundry, anyway very disappointed.

This is probably the first and last time I ever go to this resort. There was no heads up about construction and tearing down buildings. The noise was ridiculous and out-of-control. Elevators were always out. Rooms were not clean and stunk of mold and mildew, air conditioning sounds like a motorcycle speeding down the highway. Asked to have it serviced it never was. Sheets and comforters were stained.
