We stayed at the RUI Palace three years ago with no issues whatsoever. Rebooking at the same hotel, we thought we would have the same wonderful week. The food was very good, as was the staff. For all the issues that we experienced throughout the week, the staff handled all of it beautifully - with kindness, patience, and helpful ideas to get us through. I would specifically like to call out Raul at the pool - he is spectacular at his job!
Issues encountered:
Elevator - not programmed correctly, then stopped working altogether
Phone - did not work; turned on, then only dial tone. Not able to call out. No room service, front desk, etc.
Room very humid - sheets felt wet, floor sticky
Mildew smell upon entry to room
Renovating - construction noises galore
No water - turned off by hotel many days; no hot water the whole time there
Double booked the room
Hot wires coming out of the wall
Cover plate didn't fit over exposed hole in wall; Caulking not finished in shower - and dripping down walls in other areas; Paint on the floor; Toilet set not right size for toilet
