Overall stay was ok. Food and service at the bar and breakfast very good and friendly. I appreciate that the owners are in the process of refurbishment. We had an occasional table with knick-knacks in our room that served no purpose whatsoever. Space would be put to better use with a chair or maybe a wardrobe as a rail with three hangers is of no use whatsoever. A rail is fine but more hangers are needed. Paintwork on walls chipped and masking tape needs to be used when going from wood work to plaster as this was very untidy and slap-dash when didn’t need to be. I am a dog-lover and was great to be able to bring our dogs into the bar but my god there were dogs everywhere!! You need some space where non dog lovers can get away from them - maybe the dining room?

A super place to stay.

Our room was a little careworn. But enough of the negatives. The main building and the location were super. The staff were fantastic. An absolute delight. They were worth the stay alone. We had a family dinner one evening which was very good. Our room was as mentioned before, a little "tired" but spotlessly clean and fine for our three night stay. Breakfast was super; just the thing to start the day, BUT, please get an expresso machine for when we stay again.

Nice hotel in lovely location

A nice hotel and in a lovely location. The breakfast was good and the service was friendly. Drinks were reasonably priced. The hotel was very dog friendly but the stairs were very steep (it's an old building) so I had to carry my dog up and and down the stairs (and he's not a small dog). This couldn't be helped by the hotel but I wouldn't stay there again if I had my dog with me.

Rooms lovely. Breakfast very good. Well located. Very clean. A shame when booking hotels.com doesn't advise customers that no food served Sunday evening or all day Monday through the bar.

A lovely stay

I stayed along with 3 friends for 4 nights and we all thought the hotel was beautiful from the outside and its setting right next to the river is fantastic. Parts of the hotel are a little tired and the unmodernised bedrooms need a facelift although theyre perfectly comfortable. Breakfast is good but the addition of fruit and yoghurts would give more variety for those who dont want the cooked option. All the staff are polite and friendly and I would recomment this hotel for a quiet, relaxing stay.

Two night stay in a single room. My second visit to the hotel which had changed hands between. Room was clean and well stocked but needs some TLC, as does other areas. The floor in my room was very uneven and creaky and the corridor outside, equally so; to the point it almost feels unsafe. Breakfast was good. Staff were all friendly, helpful and hard working.

Small room, in need of an upgrade. Very hot room, down to the weather but the hotel couldn't provide a fan to aid cooling. Great food and fab beer. Loved that our dog was welcome.

Lovely and popular.

The property is being done up atm. So it's slowly looking better every month. A few cob webs about on the windows but remaining of the room was clean. Lovely location and lovely staff. As for the food its fantastic. We will return for hopefully a meal when we are on a boat next month.
