This place is old and overpriced for what it is. The bathroom is extremely small. It's a great location but I wish it was in a little better shape and the rooms are pretty old and tired. Also the bed was just OK.

A very beautiful historic hotel designed by Julia Morgan . The building is well taken care of. The indoor pool area, while grand, could use some love . The restaurant is also beautiful, menu is surprisingly conventional. I was surprised by the prix fix menu only having one offering and that was red meat! Rooms are simple and smaller, but adequate. Staff is mixed, some competent some not. Like everywhere these days. Feel it’s worth staying at these important properties so that they remain viable.

Love the beautiful architecture and historical aspects of the property. Well located near the Cal campus and very convenient for public transportation. Breakfast was a lovely added bonus! Only detraction regarding the area is the homeless situation which is evident throughout Berkeley & SF.
