An historic hotel, well maintained with spacious rooms. The location is excellent on the Main Street (which is very quiet at night) and within walking distance of all the main attractions (galleries, steampunk, cafes etc). Breakfast was very good and the staff both friendly and efficient. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Excellent room, spacious but let down on a hot day by no heatpump. Opened the sash windows onto the fire escape to try to get a draft through the room. Was quite excited to find what could have been a usb charging point but turned out to be an old telephone jack., room 3, the suite would be great in winter, bring a charger

An Excellent Value, Well Located, Hotel in Oamaru.

We were pleasantly surprised by the Brydone Hotel. It is an old hotel but one that has been kept in decent condition. Our one-bedroom suite was spacious and its bathroom would not have been out of place in a major city centre name brand hotel at four times the price. All of the staff we met were friendly and helpful making our stay even more pleasant. We also ate in the hotel restaurant and found the food to be both plentiful and very appitising. The Brydone is also much better located than the myriad motels that line the main road into town. From here it is only a short walk to the Steam Punk Museum, the harbour and shops of the historic district.

Value for money

Even though this is a bit of a tired hotel, the staff was great, we rested well, the parking is convenient, the towels were absorbent, and we had plenty of hot water in the shower. An economical option in Oamaru if you want to be close to the historic downtown.

Very good location in Oamaru. Easy walk to all of Victorian area and even Blue Penguin Colony is walkable. Hotel is a bit dated, but rooms are good-sized, clean, and comfortable.

Central location

We were in Room 3 so plenty of space and loved the separate living room. Had everything we needed. Shame on 2nd Jan there was a surcharge in the hotel especially when you were staying but the bar connected didn’t. Food in bar cooked by hotel was lovely. Central to everything.
